Netflix’s Thrilling New Claire Danes Drama Is One To Watch
Netflix has a knack for making entertaining thrillers with big-name stars- and they’re continuing that trend with The Beast In Me, a new series releasing this month. Starring Homeland’s Claire Danes, it follows a bestselling author who has lost the creative spark when it comes to her writing.
Struggling to come up with anything for a new book, she suddenly gets inspiration from a new neighbour who moves in (played by The Americans star Matthew Rhys) and has a murky past. She gets more and more drawn into his life, but it could come at a cost- here’s all you need to know:
What is The Beast In Me about?
The Beast In Me centres on our main character, Aggie Wiggs (Danes), who’s an acclaimed best-selling author. But her career is halted when she is left devastated after losing her young son. The traumatic event causes her to retreat from her career and the public eye and become a recluse, spending her days feeling like a ghost of her former self. Experiencing writer’s block and unable to find creative inspiration as she tries to move on with her life, she wonders if she’ll ever write anything again, let alone a bestseller.
Her luck may be about to turn around when a new arrival in her neighbourhood arrives: Nile Jarvis (Rhys). Nile is a famous real estate mogul known for his formidable business deals, but he also has something of a mysterious past. Years ago, he was once the prime suspect in an investigation into his wife’s disappearance, something which still hangs over him. Meeting him face to face, Aggie finds herself drawn to a man who’s both fascinating and unnerving to be around. The struggling author thinks she may have found a new idea for a novel with Nile’s story as a rough basis- but her interest soon starts to go past writing and into an obsession. She finds herself desperate to investigate the case herself, but the risks involved could turn deadly.

The Beast in Me is set to also star Brittany Snow (The Hunting Wives), Natalie Morales (Language Lessons), David Lyons (She Rides Shotgun), and Jonathan Banks (Better Call Saul). An official trailer, giving a first look at the darkly thrilling series, was recently released by Netflix, while the show releases on 13th November.
