A new romcom from Netflix would excite us anyway, but when it stars Tina Fey, Steve Carell, and Colman Domingo, then it definitely has our undivided attention.

The Four Seasons, set to arrive on the streamer later this year, is a remake/adaptation of an early 80s movie of the same name which starred Alan Alda and the Carol Burnett. It follows three couples who all go on holiday together each and every season but this changes when one of them splits and files for divorce.

What is The Four Seasons about?

The project is being written for Netflix by Fey alongside Lang Fisher (Never Have I Ever) and Tracey Wigfield (Saved By The Bell). It focuses on three suburban couples who have all become close friends, and go on a holiday together every season, from spring to summer to autumn to winter. The series reunites Tina Fey and Steve Carell together after they previously starred opposite each other in the romcom Date Night. The three couples’ happy trips away however are abruptly turned on their head when one splits up and divorces.

Of course, one pair fracturing permanently is tricky enough for the others to deal with going forward, but things are further complicated when the now-divorced husband starts to bring a much younger woman on the group’s subsequent holidays. Now with a very different dynamic, the once harmonious group of friends start to fracture further, as other tensions threaten to erupt to the surface. The Four Seasons remains very much a comedy though, and Fey said to Netflix’s Tudum that the show is “a love letter to long-term relationships, both platonic and romantic, because your life is ideally more than just the person you’re married to.”

What else do we know, and who else is in the cast?

It looks like the show will expand on the story in its adaptation of the 1981 film since it’s set to run for eight episodes once it hits Netflix later in 2025. Plotwise, Netflix hasn’t revealed much else yet, but we do know who else is in the cast: Colman Domingo, currently nominated for the Best Actor Oscar for Sing Sing will be joining Fey and Carell, as well as Will Forte (The Last Man On Earth), Erika Henningsen (Hazbin Hotel), Kerrie Kenney-Silver (The Great North) and Marco Calvani (High Tide).

Is there a release date?

There’s no release date yet, nor an official trailer but we do have a few first glimpse images of the cast in action. Stay tuned for more details.
