The Location

The first – and only – of its kind in the area, Ben’s Yard is a brand new retail village that’s just opened in Cambridgeshire. Designed by owners Alastair and Victoria Morbey, the destination champions local businesses and great British brands to create a community space that’s got something for everyone.

The village has taken over Ely’s Stuntney Estate and is located just one mile from the popular Ely Cathedral, 15 minutes from Newmarket, the home of horse racing and 30 minutes from the picturesque city of Cambridge.

The Retailers

Looking for a new shopping destination to explore? Get excited as Ben’s Yard is home to the UK’s most exciting independent designers.

With 13 retail units to explore, you can shop from locally renowned brands, ranging everything from boutique fashion and lifestyle to hand-picked homewares.

For the foodies, expect to find the Ben’s Yard Café, home to a selection of nourishing salads, sandwiches, freshly made smoothies and sweet treats. There’s also Malloy’s Craft Butchery on-site too championing sustainability, combining a farm-to-plate ethos with eco-friendly practices.

It’s set to become the local go-to place to shop for the best summer fashion trends, stock up on gifts for Christmas and celebrations, as well as being a new destination to meet and catch up with friends and family. Beats battling through the crowds in Oxford Circus!

The Restaurant

After a morning of hitting up the shops, refuel with a light lunch at Ben’s Yard Restaurant, the village’s all-day dining restaurant.

Home to botanical-inspired interiors, the restaurant specialises in modern British and international classics. Taking pride in keeping things local, it offers fresh and inspired dining with an eclectic menu serving modern British and international classics.

You’ll find plenty of cosy corners, great for warming up after a wildflower walk and counter-side stools for drinks and catch-ups with friends.

If you’re always searching for somewhere with outdoor seating, look no further as their terrace is equipped with heaters and umbrellas, so no matter what the weather is, you can sit back and enjoy.

The perfect stop over whether you’re after breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner.

The Adventures

It’s not all just shopping at Ben’s Yard. The village is set within the Stuntney Estate and is home to plenty of nature walks, adventure parks and events dotted throughout the year.

For nature lovers, restore your balance on one of their wildflower trails. Set within their 250-acre reserve, there are five kilometres of marked trails to explore, from woodland and fenlands to wildflower meadows and winter bird food pastures.

There is a two-kilometre loop on hardcore. Spend the afternoon wandering the trails, taking in the sites including Ely Cathedral that you’ll spot on the horizon. You might even be lucky enough to spot a kingfisher roaming on the reservoir…

For the kiddies, an adventure playground has been devised. Paying homage to the historic Ely Cathedral, the playground is a replica of the cathedral, perfect for little adventurers to explore, roam, clamber and dangle while you enjoy a moment of peace or refuel with a coffee and slice of cake.

Throughout the year, Ben’s Yard is set to play host to multiple events, including food fairs and Christmas markets, so make sure to keep up to date on their website and socials for more details to follow.
