At last, The Night Manager is coming back to our screens: close to a decade after the Tom Hiddleston starring spy drama lit up TV, series 2 will be launching on New Year’s Day. The Loki star will be back, reprising his role as Jonathan Pine, a former MI6 operative, and the action will be moving to Colombia. The stakes and drama will be even higher as Pine navigates betrayal, conspiracy and murder. Read on for everything you need to know about The Night Manager series 2.

What’s The Night Manager Series 2 about?

First, a quick recap (which is needed since the first series was in 2016)- The Night Manager originally focused on Jonathan Pine, a former soldier, working as the night manager of a luxury hotel in Cairo. The series is based on the novel by legendary spy novelist John Le Carre, and follows Pine as he is recruited by a Foreign Office official (Olivia Colman) to investigate and infiltrate the business of arms dealer Richard Roeper, played by Hugh Laurie. Along the way, he also crosses paths with Jed (Elizabeth Debicki).

Series 2, however, moves the action away from North Africa and instead to Latin America, where Pine will be in Colombia on the trail of a new and even more dangerous threat. We find him first in London, trying once again to leave his past behind, and working as a low-level MI6 surveillance officer. He spots and recognises an old associate of Roeper’s, who leads him to encounter Teddy Santos, a violent and powerful businessman who runs arms in Colombia. Pine also meets Roxana Bolaños, herself a businesswoman who decides to lend help to his mission of unravelling Santos’ growing empire. But there’s more afoot than just a criminal making business, as Pine soon uncovers a conspiracy to destabilise the entire nation through a guerrilla army. But in a new and infamous environment, it’s unclear who, if anyone, he can trust.

What else do we know, and where can I watch?

If you love Olivia Colman (who doesn’t?), you’ll be happy to know she’s also back for Series 2, once again playing Angela Burr. Meanwhile, new cast members include Diego Calva (Narcos Mexico) as Teddy Santos, and Camilla Morrone (Daisy Jones and The Six) as Roxana. Indira Virma (Game of Thrones) also joins as a new character called Mayra. The Night Manager Series 2 will be first available on BBC One and iPlayer from New Year’s Day 2026, followed by a release on Prime Video (who now co-produces the show) on 11th January.
