The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 Finally Releases Today

Whether you’re Team Jeremiah, Conrad, or ‘Belly-is-the-problem’, you’re probably wondering how many seasons one love triangle can possibly sustain. Well, so far it’s 3. Prime Video released the hotly anticipated trailer for Season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty and immediately sent the internet off into a tizzy (as well as a summer holiday to Cousins Beach). And now, the season is finally available for us to binge.
Based on the books of the same name, The Summer I Turned Pretty comes from author Jenny Han, who also wrote To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. The series is a coming-of-age story centred around the relationship between Belly (Lola Tung) and the Fisher brothers, Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno). So far, there’s been some highly competitive volleyball playing, a huge dose of sibling drama and high school romance, a very tragic loss and some sweet mother-daughter moments. So what can we expect from the third and final season? The trailer indicates that unresolved feelings and possibly another tragedy are expected to cause some dramatic twists and turns in this hyped season finale.
Where did season 2 leave us?
Season 2 saw the Fisher family reeling from the death of Susannah (Conrad and Jeremiah’s mother, played by Rachel Blanchard), and Belly is caught between the two brothers and all of their complicated feelings. But the three of them come together to save their precious beach house. Season 2 ends with Belly choosing Jeremiah, and Conrad claiming he doesn’t want to be with her anymore, even though we know that’s secretly not true.

What do we know about season 3?
Well, firstly, judging from the trailer, we can expect some Taylor Swift bangers. Daylight and Red both feature in the trailer, very clearly taking you from Belly’s seemingly picture-perfect romance with Jeremiah to some chaotic, intrusive thoughts about Conrad. The trailer has more spoilers than we would have liked to be honest – we know that Belly and Jeremiah are happy and in love, and Belly is at the end of her junior year of college, looking forward to another summer in Cousins with Jeremiah.

Belly has seemingly realised that Conrad was her past, and Jeremiah is her future. “When I’m with Jere, everything is easier, but everywhere I go, there’s a memory of Conrad,” she says in the trailer, which leads us to believe that she still has not let go of her first love. When Jeremiah and Belly announce that they plan to get married, the rest of the family doesn’t seem to be too excited about it. Belly’s mother, Laurel (Jackie Chung), claims they’re not ready for marriage and Conrad, as expected, seems to suddenly realise that he actually wants to be with Belly now. And so, the love triangle continues. There are some heated moments between the Fisher brothers, and the trailer also hints at what seems to be a car crash, so we’re holding our breath for what seems to be an emotional roller coaster of a third season.

The main cast are all returning, including Sean Kaufman (Belly’s brother, Steven), and Rain Spencer who plays the part of Belly’s best friend, Taylor. Season 3 is longer than the first two, with 11 episodes and released on Prime Video today.
