Visit the life of Beatrix Potter at the V&A

Do you remember reading The Tales Of Peter Rabbit as a child? Two of the world’s largest Beatrix Potter collections, held by the V&A and the National Trust, come together to tell the life story of Beatrix Potter in a major new V&A exhibition.

The exhibition showcases over 200 personal objects including artworks, rarely seen letters, manuscripts, sketches, coded diaries, family photographs, commercial merchandise and personal artefacts. It celebrates her early talent for storytelling, her business acumen and her fascination with the scientific study of the natural world, as well as her passion for sheep farming and conservation – a legacy still felt today.

Get your culture fix at Greenwich + Docklands Festival

The Greenwich + Docklands International Festival is celebrating its 27th year, and Greenwich will be packed out with events going on over August and September.

Expect free outdoor performances from some of the world’s rising stars and installations, including street theatre and voguing from the House of Oak and Iron; an immersive playground with The Sky is Filled with Thunder; and Charon, a giant 32ft high rotating zoetrope with posed skeletons on the edge.

This weekend sees the Island of Foam: Version XVIII pop up at Greenwich Peninsula. The space will be transformed by rainbow coloured foam. Head down to splash about and snap some epic photos for Insta.

Enter the Jurassic age at this new exhibition

Looking for one last summer holiday extravaganza to take the kids on before school starts? Let their dinosaur dreams come true at this giant new Jurassic World inspired exhibition. 

Taking over ExCeL London, the exhibition will see your little ones get an up-close look at a Velociraptor, stand under a towering Brachiosaurus and even come into contact with a mighty Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Catch Regent’s Park’s latest outdoor theatre performance

From Legally Blonde to 101 Dalmatians, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre has been in full swing this summer. To end the season, they are welcoming one final production, and it’s a little different to their usual shows. 

Antigone, on stage from September 3rd until 24th, follows a torn family on the brink of desperation. A brilliant retelling of the epic story from Inua Ellams, the writer of Barber Shop Chronicles, buckle in as we follow one heroic brother, one misguided son and one conflicted sister.

Visit Autograph’s latest photographic exhibit

Autograph’s latest exhibition, Mónica de Miranda
The Island, offers an insightful look into the complex experiences of Afrodiasporic lives, relationships to the land and colonial pasts.

The Angolan-Portuguese artist uses film and photography to to create a metaphor of ‘the island as a utopian place of isolation, refuge, and escape’. It ponders our experiences between our bodies, the past and the lands we inhabit.

Look through luxe fashion at the V&A’s latest fashion exhibition

Created in partnership with Gucci, the V&A’s next fashion facing exhibition is Fashioning Masculinities: The Art of Menswear. Opening on 19th March, the exhibition will reflect on its artistry, exploring how designers, trailers and artists have constructed – and challenged – the role of masculinity through fashion.

Spanning over 100 looks alongside 100 artworks, the display will be centred around three ideas: Undressed, Overdressed, and Redressed. Expect historic garments, photography and fashion-forward thinking ideas to come to light.

See the Take One Exhibit before it closes

The National Gallery’s annual Take One Picture programme returns for another year, bringing with it works from 30 primary schools across the country. This year’s theme saw primary school students respond creatively to ‘The Finding of Moses’ by Orazio Gentileschi.

The painting depicts a scene from the Old Testament (Exodus 2:2-10), in which Pharaoh’s daughter discovers baby Moses in a basket along the River Nile. The painting discusses cross-curricular themes from rivers and journeys to fashion, gesture and family.

Wander through colourful tunnels at Clapham Common

Colourscape is back in Clapham Common this September, and the  labyrinth of polychromatic tunnels is not to be missed!

Colourscape is a unique performance space where the public can interact freely and in close proximity to musicians and dancers. There is no stage or separation from the public, and the most magical performances are where the performers lead the audience on a journey of colour, music and space.
