Welcome To Paradise… In Wandsworth? Backyard Cinema Announce New Theme
Think of Wandsworth and your imagination may immediately jump to Paradise. But think again. Because at Backyard Cinema just brought a whole load of it to South West London in the form of Paradise City, billed as a brand new tropical dreamworld experience. So we’re sold…
The entrance is disguised as a neon-lit coin-op laundrette, like some kind of dystopian Narnia, but once inside guests can enjoy all the wonders of a truly unique multi-sensory experience.
Backyard Cinema have redefined how we watch cinema. Gone are the crowded darkened rooms, and in are immersive cinematic experiences. Whether it’s winter wonderlands or junglescapes, they seem to have a knack for creating worlds and framing cinema in a new lens.

And this summer they’ll be unveiling the Paradise City theme. We had a tip off, which we passed onto you last month, that we should “think the Capulets’ party in Romeo and Juliet”, and now the pictures are coming in it looks like this was right on the nose.
The former TV Studio is currently being converted from a winter wonderland and into a beach-like tropical paradise. Who knows, perhaps the weather will follow suit.

The films will follow the theme, with Paradise City promising an extravaganza at every screening. As well as epic light shows, sing-and-dance-along and tropical parties, guests can look forward to giant beanbags and exotic cocktails as well as food from some of our favourite street-fooders.

Present will be Honest Burgers and Mother Clucker, with specialities including The Backyard Burger (with its own spicy Backyard mayo and tobacco onions) and the buttermilk-battered Cluck Bun (of course with vegan options available too). Drinks-wise they’ll be laying on Luxury Champagne slushies, natural wines and their own beer brand, Backyard Lager from Meantime.
Backyard Cinema arrives in Wandsworth next month, straight after Easter, with a 14th April opening and will run throughout the summer. We can’t wait to head to Paradise.
