Orwells was opened in 2010 by Michelin Star-winning chefs Ryan Simpson and Liam Trotman, inside a pretty pub in rural Oxfordshire, close to Henley-on-Thames. Their ethos is to serve high quality, sustainable food in a relaxed setting.

Since opening, Orwells has achieved 3 AA Rosettes, a listing in the Michelin Guide, and was featured in the Good Food Guide’s Top 100, as well as being awarded their ‘Reader Restaurant of the Year 2012’. They also have a 3 star rating from the Sustainable Restaurant Association, meaning that they demonstrate an ‘exceptional standard of sustainability’.

Orwells have been inspiring diners since 2010 with their dedication to sustainable, locally grown food. They grow 75% of the restaurants’ fruit, vegetables and herbs in local polytunnels and only use local meat and British fish from sustainable sources. They keep bees for honey which is used in cocktails and desserts, recycle 100% of waste and won’t work with suppliers who use polystyrene. Captain Planet eat your heart out!
