Agatha All Along: Everything We Know About The WandaVision Spinoff

18th September 2024 | By Rufus Punt

One of the most underrated TV shows of last year was Tiny Beautiful Things, a drama starring Kathryn Hahn– and excitingly, Hahn is set to return this month with the new series Agatha All Along. It sees her reprise her role as Agatha Harkness, who first appeared in WandaVision, in her own spin-off series created by Marvel for Disney+. Agatha has no memory of her past at the start of the show, before a mysterious teenager enters her life and gives her back her powers. Here’s all to know.

What is Agatha All Along about?

Agatha All Along is set some years after the conclusion of the Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany starring WandaVision, which saw Olsen’s character Scarlet Witch banish the villainous Agatha for scheming against her and trying to kill her. In the process, Agatha loses her powers, and when we meet her in this series, she’s instead working as a detective, having had a permanent spell placed on her, making her forget herself. Now unaware of the world of witches which she inhabited, her life changes once again when she meets a mysterious teenager (Heartstopper’s Joe Locke) with apparent powers who can help Agatha retrieve her old way of life.

To do so, however, Agatha will need to complete a series of weird and witchy trials, known together as the Witch’s Road, to prove herself capable of wielding those powers. Along the way, she meets a slew of new characters to get acquainted with, including Rio Vidal, a “warrior witch” played by The White Lotus star Aubrey Plaza. But as Agatha manages to regain her powers, she must reckon with a series of burning questions. What does the future hold after the Witch’s Road trials? Who is the mysterious teenager who helped her break free from the spell left on her? And what happened to Wanda/Scarlet Witch after they last met? Now our protagonist, having been the antagonist in WandaVision, Agatha’s new series promises to be one of Marvel’s most anticipated releases this year.

What else do we know, and when does it release?

The series also stars Sasheer Zamata (Home Economics) as sorceress Jennifer Kale and Ali Ahn (The Diplomat) as another witch character in Agatha’s coven. Agatha All Along is slated to have nine episodes, which start on 19th September in the UK.
