It may be Valentine’s Day, but this heart fashion trend is the only thing I’m crushing on today (just don’t tell my husband!)

While a huge bouquet of blooms is not to be knocked, there’s a certain handbag that would make the ultimate love gift. The Alaia heart bag has graced the arms of many stylish folk, and, as a consequence, we’ve been undeniably influenced. Oh yes, we would most definitely like this over a box of Milk Tray any day. Plus, it will last long after the roses have wilted and the chocolates have been eaten.

The late couturier Azzedine Alaïa’s eponymous label is a firm favourite among the style set, so there’s no surprise that the brand’s iconic Le Coeur bag has been coveted for many years. Immediately recognisable, the signature heart shape is crafted from smooth leather and stamped with the iconic moniker. It is both stunningly chic and fun; timeless, yet utterly modern. It comes in an array of shades and quirky variations, which will look amazing with everything from your go-to jeans to must-have leopard print trousers.

However, if you fancy opting for a different designer, I’ve found a number of equally beautiful iterations. Moschino’s Houndstooth Heartbeat bag is really quite fabulous, while the Anthropologie Tort tote is both affordable and unique. Ultimately, the heart motif is one that will never fall out of favour. As SS24 sneaks up on us, this loveable design is cropping up, not just on our handbags, but on dresses, summer jeans and festival-ready accessories. Frankly, what’s not to love?

If a fancy bit of arm candy isn’t your thing, but you’ve fallen for the heart fashion trend, then fear not. Numerous brands and designers have either emblazoned their creations with hearts or cut them out in cute peekaboo styles.
