A stroll around the high street stores over the weekend confirmed it: cosy Argyle knits are the standout trend of the season. When we say they are everywhere, we mean they are everywhere.
At H&M, we spotted a flurry of golf-clothing-esque cardigans – perfect worn with a pleated mini, loafers and socks to fully embrace the AW25 preppy persuasion. We also found dressier iterations of the trend, like tie-bow sleeveless tops, ideal for nights out, styled with straight-leg denim and point-toe heels. Meanwhile, Zara is delivering cute sleeveless vests in cosy woollens – cool with baggy denim or dressed up and a little more edgy with a clashing tartan blouse underneath.
If you want to stretch the budget a little further, knitwear really comes into its own with the mid-range brands – luxe but not eye-wateringly expensive. We love Reformation’s mini cardigans that scream Y2K vibes and come in a wealth of colourways, whilst Ganni’s polo-style fine knit is sumptuously soft and hits the sweet spot between cool Insta girl and golfing chic.
And the dream? It has to be Miu Miu’s cashmere knit in midnight navy and a warming rust brown, and embroidered with that now-cult logo on the left-hand side. On the other end of the spectrum, Mango’s cute Argyle socks are a subtle way to work the trend, peeking out beneath tailored trousers and trainers or paired with chunky loafers and a winter midi skirt.
