Netflix’s Dead Boy Detectives Is The New Supernatural Series To Binge

If you’re a fan of Neil Gaiman’s shows like The Sandman and Good Omens, then the new series Dead Boy Detectives coming to Netflix is for you.
Based on the graphic novel series by Gaiman, it centres on a detective agency run by two teenagers who investigate murders with apparent supernatural connections. The twist though is that they’re dead and ghosts themselves. The eight-part series is set to arrive on the streaming service in April next year, so read on for the first details:
What is Dead Boy Detectives about?

Neil Gaiman and co-writer Matt Wagner’s original series began as a spin-off to The Sandman comic book series in the 1990s and focuses on Charles Rowland and Edwin Paine, two teenagers who were unfortunately both killed at their school. However, when they find themselves offered to enter the afterlife, they decide to instead remain on Earth, both undead as ghosts, and solve crimes. They might’ve been born decades apart, but they become best friends.
Charles and Edwin are played by relative newcomers Jayden Revri and George Rexstrew respectively. Edwin is described as “the brains” while Charles is “the brawn” of their investigating operations, and are aided by Crystal (Kassius Nelson), a clairvoyant, and her friend Niko (Yuyu Kitamura).
What else do we know?

The team investigates some of the supernatural world’s oddest cases, like hauntings, demons stealing memories and more. In the official teaser trailer, we get a glimpse of the group’s dynamic in action. Edwin and Charles are both pretty proud of their name for the duo despite its cheese- “it’s aces, right?” with Crystal replying mockingly, “It’s a stupid fucking name”.
Altogether the show seems to have a similar vibe and feel as shows like Doctor Who and Netflix’s Lockwood and Co., which was unfortunately cancelled by the streamer earlier this year. But with the success and renewal of both The Sandman and Good Omens for future seasons, hopes are high for Dead Boy Detectives to be another hit.

Also starring in the series are Briana Cuoco (The Flight Attendant), Ruth Connell (The Winchester), Jenn Lyon (Justified), Lukas Gage (Euphoria) Michael Beach (Saw X), Joshua Colley (Love, Victor) and Lindsey Gort (The Carrie Diaries).
