Eva Green Leads The Cast Of Apple TV’s New Political Thriller Liasion

The series, released in six parts starting on 24th February, centres around two agents working to protect the UK from international attacks. The very modern problem of cyberattacks is the main threat, with terrorists from abroad threatening to seriously destabilise security and the country’s infrastructure. The agents are Alison Rowdy (Green) and Gabriel Delage, played by Westworld and Black Swan star Vincent Cassell, and their working relationship is made complicated by the fact that they’re former lovers. Their past creates tension, but the pair have to bury the hatchet in a major attack on London wrecks transport systems and creates blackouts.
Political intrigue and a layered plot are to be expected, but Apple says that the series explores “how the mistakes of our past have the potential to destroy our future”, with a story of enduring love and twists at every corner. The official trailer for Liaison wastes no time in showing how high the stakes are, with the French president being briefed about the London attack. Green’s Alison is shocked when she discovers that Gabriel appears to be involved and confronts him- but things seem to be more complex than they appear. Alison has her own guilts to deal with, with the implication that she did something to him that ruined their past relationship, but the pair have to move past it as another attack looms.

Liaison also stars Peter Mullan (Westworld, Ozark), Gérard Lanvin (French Cuisine), Daniel Francis (Bridgerton), Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu (Emily in Paris) and Eriq Ebouaney (Rogue City). It’ll arrive on Friday 24th February, and isn’t the only French thriller series that’s hotly anticipated this year- Lupin is set to return to Netflix later in 2023.

It’s a good time to be a political thriller fan. With recent shows like A Spy Among Friends and The Whitehouse Plumbers on TV and upcoming films like Conclave, there is no shortage of high-stakes, edge-of-your-seat dramas to sink into. Apple TV+ is getting in on the act this month with its new British-French series Liaison, and much like the rest of their recent output, it features big names and a big budget. It’s both French and English language and stars a largely French cast, most notably Bond star Eva Green.
