Jennifer Garner Stars In New Netflix Comedy, Family Switch
Jennifer Garner took the streaming world by storm earlier this year with The Last Thing He Told Me, but her new Netflix film, Family Switch, sees her swapping mystery thrills for comedy.
Co-starring Hangover’s Ed Helm, Wednesday’s Emma Myers and Broadwalk Empire’s Brady Noon, it centres on the Walker family, who suddenly find themselves body-swapped with each other on the same day. Rather than the usual Freaky Friday scenario of two people swapping, all family members are switched and all four have to navigate each other’s responsibilities without messing up.

What is Family Switch about?
Garner plays Jess Walker, married to Bill (Helms) and mother of CC (Myers) and Wyatt (Noon) and leads a regular, normal life with her family. The kids aren’t getting any younger though and their growing independence and desire to strike out on their own means she’s having trouble adjusting to parenting teens. She and Bill decide to take the kids to an observatory in LA to try to rejuvenate the family spirit and it proves to be a more fateful decision than they’d bargained for.
Crossing paths with a mysterious astrologer, they’re warned the planets are aligning in a way that will change their lives- which is exactly what happens the next day when they find they’ve all switched bodies.
What else do we know?
You might be thinking that the plot sounds very similar to 13 Going On 30, the body swap comedy that was one of Garner’s first big film roles back in 2004, and you’d be right. Family Switch is set to overtly “mention 13 Going on 30…there’s a meta sort of runner in the movie because I like showing the audience that kind of respect”, according to the film’s director McG in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
Of course, the stakes are raised because each family member has an important event that day- a chance for promotion, attempting to shrike a record deal, a college interview and a soccer team try-out.
Who else stars?
The rest of the cast meanwhile features Rita Moreno (West Side Story) as the astrological reader who reveals their future, as well as Fortune Feimster (FUBAR), Pete Holmes (Crashing), Matthias Schweighöfer (Oppenheimer) and King Bach (The Babysitter).
