Continuing The Handbook’s Interiors Insider series, we sat down with the founder and CEO of international interior design studio Jolie, Franky Rousell, for a peek inside her little black book. Scroll on to find out where she shops for vintage and antique finds, one-of-a-kind furniture, and why she believes pre-loved pieces are perfect for a child’s bedroom.

Jolie was launched in 2017 as a London and Manchester-based interior design studio, and their approach is unique, creating some of the most stunning spaces we’ve seen in residential, hotel and restaurant interiors. The secret? A multi-sensory experience that brings together carefully selected colours, fragrances, sounds, textures, and even tastes, to make a room feel just right. So, we had to pick the brains of the women at the helm, interior expert and all-round tastemaker, Franky Rousell. Here’s what she had to say.

1. My standout interiors brand for 2025…

Has to be Pelican House London. Their rugs are to die for.

2. If there was one brand I’d happily buy for the rest of my life…–

It would be Minotti. The dream, if money were no object.

3. For great lighting, head to…

GUBI and Occhio are great, and I love the Ebur Editions offering by Studio Ebur.

4. For great sofas and seating…

Six The Residence have a wonderful range in neutral tones, and the silhouettes and craftsmanship of Orior Furniture are beautiful.

5. For beautiful wallpaper…

Dedar do some incredible wallcoverings. I also love Pierre Frey, Élitis, Sanderson, and Cole and Son.

6. When I’m looking for pre-loved or antiques…

I love to look at Vinterior. It is amazing for online sourcing, but I also love to trawl through local antique and charity shops. The Sunbury Vintage Market in Kempton is great to get lost in, and I always make a point to find antique fairs when abroad – the markets in Italy are a must. Shame Studios is also a favourite for vintage stock rugs.

I love to shop for vintage finds for children’s bedrooms, too. Sideboards, wardrobes and chests of drawers are always a favourite. They only get better with age and wear, so you don’t need to worry about them being knocked or bumped.

7. You can find beautiful fabrics and soft furnishings…

At Dedar – always high up on my list – alongside Métaphores Paris, Yarn Collective and Tibor.

8. My top picks for incredible home accessories are…

The Socialite Family, Sézane, Henry Holland, North Home UK, LAMP LDN, Anna + Nina, and Dusty Deco. The craftsmanship and quality of homewares from brands like TOAST and Feldspar are amazing too.

On the high street, you can’t go wrong with Sézane and Søstrene Grene.

9. For pieces with sustainability in mind…

Check out Shell Homage, who are really interesting; they use a biodegradable material made out of egg and nut shells. I also keep my eye on &Tradition, Vitra, Heerenhuis, Kvadrat, Ferm Living, Modus, Kettal, Foresso, and Linie Design.

10. My advice for kitchens

Pain English create beautiful cabinetry, as well as Atelier Cabinet Makers. The Sebastian Cox Kitchen by deVOL is a stunning option, too.

11. For affordable pieces on the high street…

You can’t go wrong with Sézane and Søstrene Grene. Zara Home do some gorgeous children’s bedroom furniture, as does Habitat. And Muji is also my go-to for storage baskets.

12. For one-of-a-kind, beautiful furniture….

Check out Soft Witness, Six The Residence, Sebastian Cox, Gareth Neal, and Ebur Editions. Feldspar also just released a range of furniture, which I love.

13. If clients are after something bespoke…

Kooij make an amazing melting pot table, each one is completely different. We have one in the Jolie Manchester studio.

I also love Pelican House’s bespoke service for one-of-a-kind rugs.

14. For children’s bedrooms and nurseries…

The Sanderson X Disney Wallpaper is adorable. Petra Palumbo ladybird wallpaper and the fun bespoke hand-painted tiles are also great for the family bathroom.

The HAY oversized paper shade is an amazing moon-esque talking point in a child’s room, along with a beautiful white Soho Home ceiling chandelier. I also adore a wall-hung tapestry like the alphabet design from Moppet.

Finally, Le Toy Van also makes some beautiful doll houses that can really add some magic to a child’s bedroom.

I adore a wall hanging for a child’s bedroom.

15. I’ve recently found interior inspiration…

On my travels. I love the interiors of Lita in Marylebone, the Proper Hotel in Santa Monica, and Audo in Copenhagen.
