From cheering on England in the World Cup to cosying up in a winter igloo, we’ve rounded up the 10 best things to do this weekend.

Get into the festive spirit at Christmas by the River

Christmas by the River has returned to London Bridge for another winter filled with Christmas markets, outdoor film screenings, choir performances and a whole lot of festive magic.

Running until the 2nd of January, the London Bridge area has been transformed with fairy-lit wooden cabins and market traders. In the lead-up to Christmas, Londoners are invited to browse and shop for homemade items from independent traders, from art to jewellery.

There’ll be plenty of other activities too, including outdoor screenings of your favourite Christmas films, lantern parades and choir performances from the likes of Pop Choir and Mind and Soul.

The Bishop at The Berkeley pop-up

The Berkeley isn’t one to hold back when it comes to pop-ups but this winter might just be the cosiest yet. Introducing The Bishop, the prestigious hotel’s first-ever pub pop-up.

Expect the hotel to be taking a more pared-back approach to their usual pristine pop-ups but still with endless amounts of charm. The space will be divided into two, one side is a bar complete with old-school beer taps, church pews and bar stools, and the other is a cosy dining room.

The menu will be bursting with public house classics, from mammoth Angus beef burgers with fried egg and fries to sumptuous pies and slow braised salt marsh lamb shank with mash.

WHEN: UNTIL END OF DECEMBER

Catch A Stunning Photography Exhibition

Launched by the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation (DSWF), The Art of Survival is a photographic exhibition aimed at helping turn the tide on species extinction, and features some truly incredible photography of animals around the world.

The art focuses on three key themes: fight, protect, and engage.

The exhibition is a great opportunity for animal lovers to invest in the future survival of our planet by purchasing wildlife art – or for those without quite that kind of budget, to enjoy seeing the majesty of Mother Nature as you’ve never seen her before.

Wander Around A Gingerbread City

The Museum of Architecture’s hugely popular annual exhibition The Gingerbread City returns this year, bringing with it a brilliantly festive (and very edible) display of five miniature cities made from gingerbread. Don’t expect this to be a bunch of gingerbread houses stuck in a row though – there’ll be skyscrapers, cars, windmills, clouds, bridges and much more, built not just from gingerbread but plenty of other sweet treats like marshmallows, strawberry laces and candy floss. At past exhibitions, there have even been models of famous landmarks like Battersea Power Station, the Tate Modern and 2020’s venue Somerset House.
