There are few better ways to eat than picking at a table covered in cheese, charcuterie, bread and dips with a good bottle of wine somewhere within reach. Whether you’re after an immaculate cheese board or Mediterranean spreads made for tearing and dipping, these are London’s best grazing boards for when one plate simply won’t do.

The Mandrake

Sometimes the best grazing board is the one someone else assembles for you. The Mandrake’s generous Mediterranean spread brings together hummus, smoky baba ghanoush, tzatziki and creamy taramasalata, with homemade olive oil focaccia and warm flatbread for scooping everything up. Simple, shareable and particularly well suited to a long lunch with a cold bottle of wine.

The Montagu Kitchen at Hyatt Regency London

The Montagu Kitchen has taken the grazing board outdoors with picnic hampers designed to be collected from the hotel and eaten in the private gardens of Portman Square. There are three levels, but the £85 Deluxe is our pick for grazing, loaded with charcuterie, buffalo mozzarella, bread, Caesar salad with chicken, salmon bagels, desserts and soft drinks. Go all-out with the £140 Luxury and you’ll get charcuterie and a cheese board alongside a bottle of white or rosé.

Eve Bar

For grazing with considerably more Champagne involved, Eve Bar has borrowed the opening snacks from Adam Handling’s Michelin-starred Frog upstairs. The £20 Frog Chef’s Snacks Selection includes Not an Oyster, Crab & Green Chilli, Eel Doughnut and Lamb, Kimchi & Cumin, giving you a taste of the full restaurant without committing to its tasting menu. Order it to share over drinks, ideally alongside one of Eve’s Martinis or the Martini & Caviar Flight.

The Newt in Somerset

If you’re building your own grazing board, The Newt’s new charcuterie range makes a very good place to start. Handmade in the estate’s Somerset butchery and cured in bespoke ageing rooms, the collection takes its cues from European and British meat-preserving traditions, using estate and locally sourced ingredients where possible. Choose from Spanish-inspired Lomo, Italian-style Coppa, Venison & Juniper Salami and Venison Bresaola, then add good cheese, bread and pickles and call it lunch.

GRAPE & Fig

For the sort of grazing board that arrives looking almost too pretty to disturb, GRAPE & Fig is an easy choice. The specialist platter company builds its boards around 100% British artisan cheese and charcuterie, alongside fruit, crackers and all the usual grazing accompaniments. Everything is made fresh, with ready-to-eat platters available for hand delivery across much of London. This one’s particularly useful when you want the dinner-party centrepiece without actually assembling it yourself.

La Fromagerie

Few places take cheese as seriously as La Fromagerie. Its Marylebone original is part cheesemonger, part café and wine shop, with a famously extensive selection of British and European cheeses. Pick your own from the cheese room to take home, or settle in for one of its aperitif boards with a glass of wine. If your idea of a grazing board is primarily an excuse to eat an unreasonable amount of very good cheese, this is the one.

Humble Grape

Wine is technically the main event at Humble Grape, but the food menu knows exactly what you want with it. Its wine bars serve cheese and charcuterie boards designed for sharing, alongside small plates, with more than 500 wines from small independent producers to work your way through. Go with a few people, order a board for the table and let the staff do the difficult bit of deciding what you should drink with it.

Vagabond

Vagabond Wines makes grazing particularly easy: pour yourself something from its self-service wine machines, then order cheese, charcuterie and sharing plates to go alongside. There are more than 100 wines available to explore at its bars, while the food is deliberately built around things you can pick at over a bottle — artisan cheeses and cured meats included.
