Kate Moss celebrated her 50th birthday this year, and remains the cool girl we all desperately want to be. We’re taking notes…
What is your earliest beauty memory?
My earliest beauty memory was buying lipstick to wear to the school disco.
Fresh-faced and joggers or full-face of makeup and red-carpet gowns?
I like to feel comfortable, so it’s jeans and a cashmere jumper for me. Makeup wise it’s always Charlotte Tilbury and I love her new Icon Baby warm nude rose lipstick for a natural look.
What’s in your in-flight travel bag?
My Sacred Mist scent – I recently launched a mini size to fit in to handbags, so it goes everywhere with me, it’s sensual as well as calming.
I also use my Golden Nectar Oil which is great for keeping my skin hydrated when I’m flying.
Do you have any wellness rituals?
That was one of the things that inspired me to create my wellbeing range. When I started to take better care of myself and created a more balanced life, I started meditating, doing yoga, and making time for myself. Cosmoss is all about creating wellness rituals, it’s very much the core of my brand.
I start my day with the Dawn Tea, followed by an affirmation from my Love Letters book. I cleanse and moisturise with Cosmoss Skincare and then I use my Golden Nectar Facial Oil Drops.
How do you wind down and reset?
At the end of the day, I’ll wind down by taking off my makeup, cleansing away the day, it’s a skincare ritual we all do, but by calling them ‘rituals’ you are more consciously making time for them, and yourself. I always end my day with a cup of Cosmoss Dusk Tea, so my body knows it’s time for sleep.
Talk us through your exercise and well-being regime.
I like yoga; Pilates and I meditate too. I feel now I am more informed and know what my body does and doesn’t like; I try to be mindful, but I also don’t punish myself.
I think you must listen to your body and find what works for you. Personally, I love spending time outdoors; wild swimming and being in nature also helps keep me grounded.
Do you take any supplements?
I met Victoria Young about five years ago. She is a leading homeopath, naturopath and shaman and has really helped me on my own wellness journey and creates remedies specific to my needs. I also take Lumity supplements daily.
Can you list your go-to beauty products and treatments?
I can’t live without:
– Sam McKnight ‘s Cool Girl Texture Spray for my hair.
– Nicola Clark for my colour.
– Charlotte Tilbury’s makeup.
– Cosmoss skincare and wellness.
– Teresa Tarmey and Keren Bartov for facials.
What beauty/health advice would you give your 20-year-old self?
Wear sunscreen!
What’s on your beauty repeat buy list?
Cosmoss Sacred Mist, La Roche-Posay sunscreen, and Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk makeup range.
Where do you shop for unique beauty finds?
I travel a lot and adore discovering new things – I always visit French pharmacies when I’m in Paris.
What are your go-to skin saviours?
I’ve noticed such a difference in my skin since I’ve been following my Cosmoss rituals and using the cleanser, moisturiser and oil morning and night.
What is the one product you don’t leave home without?
Sacred Mist.
You obviously appreciate a great fragrance, what was the inspiration behind Sacred Mist?
I wanted to create a scent that smells amazing, but also something that had benefits my mind and my spirit. I invited Victoria Young, my homeopath (see above) rather than a typical ‘nose’ to help me create a more holistic scent and we created the blend together using some of my favourite essential oils, Jasmine, Tuberose and Bergamot. Victoria introduced me to Oak Moss, and since then it’s become part of my sensory world. Oak Moss has healing properties and represents protection. I had it growing in my kitchen and when my friends came over, they would say, ‘Oh wow, I can smell you!’- because it’s scent and aura is very me.
Finally, your own style is iconic, but whose style do you admire most?
Anita Pallenberg, she was always so glamorous.
