Every day, there’s a new trending beauty product on TikTok. The latest name on the block is Laura Mercier and its Real Flawless Weightless Perfecting Foundation, which is getting millions of views and a mega amount of airtime, but is it really worth the fuss?

The reputable makeup brand’s latest 30-shade complexion offering has amassed more than 7.8 million views on TikTok through the “#LauraMercierFoundation” hashtag. With the ongoing quest to find the perfect shade match, foundations are always competing with one another to find the perfect formula to suit all skin tones and skin types and I’m tempted to admit, this may be it.

Our Beauty Editor’s Honest Review

Before finding the right shade, I swatched the foundation on my hand and I was already seriously impressed with the silky texture and how it blurred my skin. But it worked even better on my face. It dried down to a satin velvety finish which removed just the right amount of shine to make my skin look healthy but also filter-like. As someone who tends to veer towards tinted moisturisers rather than a bolder coverage foundation, Laura Mercier has clearly nailed the hybrid makeup/skincare category. This foundation sits perfectly in between both and honestly felt undetected on my skin.

So impressed by this formula, I delved deeper to try and find a flaw, but it was much harder than I expected. The foundation claims to deliver up to 12 hours of fade-proof, cake-proof and waterproof wear – and it does. It’s said to reduce the appearance of pores, fine lines, and imperfections – and it does that, too. Perhaps if I were really trying to find a flaw in this formula, it would be oily/combo skin would probably still require several touch-ups down their T-zone, even with the oil-controlling properties. It’s not enough coverage to keep natural shine fully under control, but I’m really clutching on straws to be critical.

BEFORE
AFTER

I trialled the foundation straight on top of my moisturiser, with little downtime in between steps. However, next time I intend to use a primer as suggested on the bottle, to give an even smoother finish. And, if I’m going somewhere fancy, I’ll probably reach for a foundation brush rather than use my fingertips, though saying that, the latter worked perfectly well and grabbed plenty of product.

Pairing beautifully with the viral foundation, Mercier missed no trick and earlier this year launched the Real Flawless Weightless Perfecting Concealer. 22 shades of brilliant coverage to complement its viral partner.

Overall, I’d give this foundation two thumbs up – it definitely deserves the hype.
