Sam Claflin Leads Eerie New Thriller Lazarus On Prime Video
Want a creepy, atmospheric new series to watch this Halloween? Peaky Blinders and Daisy Jones and the Six star Sam Claflin leads the upcoming Prime Video drama Lazarus, a six-part miniseries in which he stars as an amateur detective investigating a number of mysterious cold case murders. He stars opposite the BAFTA award-winning Bill Nighy, and the series is set to premiere on 22nd October. Here’s all to know:
What is Lazarus about?
Lazarus is written by the highly popular, bestselling writer Harlan Coben, whose novels Fool Me Once and Missing You were adapted for the screen and became hits for Netflix. His latest focuses on the titular Joel Lazarus, played by Claflin, who returns to his home following a traumatic event in his life. His father, known as “Dr. Lazarus” and played by Nighy, took his own life, leaving Joel to pick up the pieces. His return home, however, is made stranger by the fact that he suddenly starts experiencing events that he can only describe as supernatural and unexplainable phenomena. As events begin to unfold, Joel begins to realise that there must be more to his father’s death than he had first assumed.
As Joel begins to look into his own father’s death, he comes across a series of mysterious murder cases that remain unsolved. 25 years ago, Joel’s sister was murdered, and now her case and their father’s death appear to be linked. With the weight of his emotions and grief, Joel begins to investigate the cases themselves in the hopes of discovering more links- but there may be much more to all of these cold call cases than he ever imagined. What was his father hiding from him? Of course, this being a Harlan Coben series, you can expect plenty of wild twists and turns in the story, added to which is an overall creepy, unnerving atmosphere. Colour us very intrigued.
What else do we know, and is there a release date?
The main cast of the miniseries also includes Alexandra Roach (Inside No. 9), David Flynn (Here), Karla Crome (Toxic Town), Kate Ashfield (Line of Duty) and Roison Gallagher (The Lovers). There’s no trailer yet and just a few first look images, but you won’t have long to wait as all six episodes of the miniseries will be released on 22nd October.
