As much as we love a weekend stroll down Columbia Road Flower Market, the hotspot for all things floral can get a little hectic. There are, however, plenty of charming London flower shops dotted all over the capital that offer a more bespoke, personal service. Plus, it’s Mother’s Day coming up and a bunch of flourishing blooms will make her day all of the more special.

From the A-list’s favourite to modern florists breaking the rule when it comes to stuffy, old-fashioned designs, here are the London flower shops we rate most.

Nikki Tibbles Wild at Heart at Liberty London

Few florists in London, if not the world, are Instagrammed as much as Liberty’s famous outdoor florist at the main entrance of the iconic department store. Just about every influencer worth their salt has snapped the colourful little corner at the famous Great Marlborough Street entrance, whether they’ve bought blooms or not.

The shop is run by one of London’s coolest florist, Nikki Tibbles of Wild at Heart and plays to a kaleidoscope colour palette and wild, rustic aesthetic. Pick up a handpicked selection next time you’re in W1 and you’ll be in good company – Nikki is the go-to florist for huge brands from Tom Ford to Jo Malone.

Pulbrook & Gould

Belgravia’s Pulbrook and Gould specialise in posh bouquets and the brand’s history is just as interesting as the spectacular displays they create.

The florist was founded back in 1956 by Lady Susan Pulbrook and Constance Spry (the Queen of Floristry)-trained Rosamund Gould. They are still regarded as one of London’s best florists today with their breathtaking arrangements of mixed flowers, foliage, berries and fruits sourced from private English gardens and estates.

As well as weddings and top fashion and celebrity events, you can also order one of their elaborate works of art online.

Grace and Thorn

If you like your bouquets to look unruly, wild and like you might have just scooped them up from a summer meadow (and expertly arranged them) Grace & Thorn should be your go-to.

Their flagship Hackney store breaks the rules when it comes to floral arrangements, serving up stunning bouquets as well as plants, pots and other botanical related gifts.

The Flower Appreciation Society

If you’re worried about the sustainability and carbon footprint of your blooms, check out The Flower Appreciation Society. Not only do they appreciate flowers but where they’re sourced from too, with many coming from their own cutting garden around the corner from the studio.

If you’re keen to green your fingers a little more, the Hackney-based studio puts on expert workshops every month to share their great skills with fellow flower fanatics.

McQueens’

London’s master of floral design, McQueens’ started out with a small studio in Shoreditch around 30 years ago. During that time they’ve probably become London’s most famous florist, with clients including the Vanity Fair Oscars After Party (for over 25 years no less), Wimbledon and the Evening Standard. You won’t find a more flamboyant bunch anywhere in the city. They also host regular classes and workshops too.

Scarlet & Violet

You’d be forgiven for thinking you’d stepped inside a rustic Cotswolds florist at Scarlet & Violet’s NW boutique. A favourite with the fashion set thanks to their creative arrangements that don’t look too ‘done’, each bunch has it’s own unique charm.

Visit for inspiration, to pick up a weekend treat of blooms or just for the magnificent scent the boutique creates.

Rebel Rebel

If you thought floristry was tame, these guys quite literally put the rebel rebel in blooms. The Hackney store, based inside the super cool Mare Street Market, is stunning, with crittall windows, neon signage and bouquets that are unashamedly bold.

The team handpicks their flowers and foliage from the New Covent Garden flower market every morning to ensure they are as seasonal and predominantly British as can be.

Moyses Stevens

Dating back to 1876, it’s fair to say Moyses Stevens knows a thing or two about putting a bunch together.

Home to four locations across the city – including one inside Selfridges – the team showcases the best of British seasonal blooms.

The bunches don’t come cheap but are well worth it if you’re looking to spoil a special someone in your life or fancy treating yourself to a little mid-week treat.
