Oh, if only every day was the weekend. But then I guess we wouldn’t look forward to it as much? Hmm.
Any hoo, it’s that time again. The time to push swivel chairs under desks and pop off the office fan – what the heck is this weather – and feel the refreshing taste of beer on your lips like you’re the main part in a Carlsberg ad. This weekend, there’s a ton going on as always, so give June a good ol’ send off and embrace the Monday blues, triumphant.
If you’re not going to Glasto this weekend then fear not, we’ve got the next best thing. No, really. Everyone that is someone has been raving about Gaucho’s Electro brunch which happens every single Saturday between 11am and 4pm! Who needs Stormzy on stage when you’ve got smoking hot steak and eggs and some of London’s best DJs?
The brunch, available at Gaucho Sloane Avenue, is an ideal way to while away the weekend. Worth every calorie, other classics from the famed steak group will include the signature briskit muffin and a choripán, an Argentine classic with is an epic chorizo sausage sandwich with chimichurri. The lip-smackingly tasty offerings, which have our bellies rumbling, can be accompanied by free-flowing cocktails, including the classics of Bloody Mary and Aperol Spritz and new serves such as the Pornstar and Espresso Martinis and a Botanical No.1 cocktail, Ketel One botanical peach and orange blossom vodka with lemonade.
The scrumptious brunch is valid for an hour and a half from the time of seating, so expect 90 minutes of hair of the dogging and feasting. Yippee!
This week, we explored the exotic climes of new bar, The Parrot, a dimly-lit mystery of a spot that’s housed at The Waldorf Hilton. Who’s behind it? Oh, only Idris Elba.
That’s right the Luther star and director of Yardie teamed up with twins Lee and Nicky Caulfield to open the bar and we were simply whisked away by the opulent nature of it all, oh and the incredible man playing guitar like it was going out of fashion. Seated in velvet chairs, we delved into one of the best cocktail menus I’ve ever come across. Seriously. Bespoke mixed drinks are on the menu, created exclusively by head bartender Daniele Panzanaro, and all are served in glasses that have been inspired by a different member of the Parrot family. The tropical theme sees you slurping Maker’s Mark bourbon out of a Parakeet’s bum, or downing Don Q dark rum from a big ol’ coconut.
This weekend, why not explore the intertwining cocktail menu and make sure, if there’s one thing you do, that you try the Moluccan King cocktail… that’s if I haven’t drank them off the menu first!
If anything is going to make you want to get a dog, it’s this ridiculously cute brunch. Soho Club, The Court, is welcoming non-members and their furry pals to have a dog days brunch so, take a paws, and listen to what’s involved!
You’ll polish off an indulgent afternoon tea and, at the same time, raise money for a fabulous cause – Nicki Tibbles’ Wild At Heart Foundation. This foundation helps stray dogs find loving homes, and 100% of the proceeds raised on the day will flood to the cause. On the foodie front, you – and Fido – will feast on a four-course set menu featuring theatrical crudités and Waldorf salad, followed by a choice of artichoke gnocchi or pork fillet for mains, and an indulgent melon and chamomile brûlée to finish!
Of course no brunch is complete without pawsecco so, fear not, there’ll be plenty of that too! This will be just one of the canine delights sitting snug inside the goodie bags that the dogs will receive upon departure, as well as special dog biscuits and Khiels products for dogs and their owners!
The event will take place on the 29th June from 12pm – 4pm
If you’re hungry, then look away now! An eclectic amount of eateries opened their doors this month and as it’s our duty – and our pleasure – to round them up, we’ve popped a big ol’ guide your way. So, foodies, if you nothing else this weekend then tick at least one of these restos off your list.

Anywhere that seals their doughnuts with a loving kiss is fine by us. The piped ‘x’ on Crosstown Doughnuts has come to be a mini mark of quality – and proves pretty photogenic too. Still serving from stalls at Broadway Market, Spitalfields and Leather Lane, they now have a permanent spot in Soho for when the craving for a plump sourdough ball of dulce de leche gets a bit much.
This weekend, the doughy dudes are introducing treats to represent Canada Day & Independence Day, which you can pre-order now – eek! Or visit their new Canary Wharf store! The lip-smacking flavours include:

- Canadian Maple & Pecan 🇨🇦

Even those this joyous event isn’t this weekend as such, it is happening for a whopping week between the 1st and 7th of July! Yes, the RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival is imminent and it’s one to pen, not pencil, into the diary. With a whole host of highlights it’s hard to choose which to rave about, but here are some of our favourites:
There’ll be a powerful joining of wellness and plants at the RHS Sanctuary, which will see visitors journey through the body, mind and soul and immerse themselves in medicinal planting. If all of this green fingered-ness has led you to work up a rumbling appetite then you can make the most of the Wild Garden Banquet with Merlin Labron-Johnson – one of the UK’s youngest chefs to receive a Michelin star. He’ll pop wild ingredients onto your plate and, in true flower power style, you can tuck in with festival floral headdress on. Plus, there’ll be plenty of Pimms and Fortnum & Mason’s hampers to boot in true, quintessentially British style. So, soak up the sun and tune into tunes by the river. Hampton Court Palace is definitely the place to be this summer.

We believe there’s not much that’s more quintessentially British than delving into an afternoon tea at Blenheim Palace, which is why we’re overjoyed that they’re bringing a new one to their white-clothed tables! The Orangery by Searcys at Blenheim Palace has joined forces with Laurent-Perrier Harmony Champagne, using bottle-popping flavours that partner exquisitely with the rest of the food on offer which is picked out by none other than world-renowned chocolatier and patissier William Curley.
We’re talking whisking it back to the classics, with adorable finger sandwiches with fillings such as Searcys smoked salmon and Coronation chicken. And, teacakes including Pistachio, Amedei chocolate Sacher torte, Lemon and Earl Grey macarons and Black Forest tart. Plus, because no afternoon tea is complete without them, moreish scones will be available to scoff too!
As William Curley himself says: “The most rewarding part of my work is creating new chocolates and patisserie.” Well, William, we can’t wait to try them!
The sweet offering will be on offer throughout summer, with tickets available to purchase online or at the gates.
