What to do This Weekend: 2nd – 4th March
We’ve spent the last couple of days fending off emails cancelling whatever it was we’d had in the diaries for weeks because of a little bit of snow. Alright, a lot bit of snow. The Beast From The East has a lot to account for, including the cancellation of the ‘vagina drawing class’ that three of our female staff members are bitterly disappointed to miss (though the sole male staff member is frankly rather relieved that the office fridge isn’t about to get some special artwork Blu-tacked to its door).
But if you’re still open to making plans with the caveat ‘snow willing’ then here’s what you can pencil into your diaries this weekend.
QUEENS Skate Dine Bowl
The Winter Games
Surely this one can’t be cancelled due to the weather? The skating rink at Queen’s, Bayswater, is organising a winter Olympics ‘try-athlon’ (as in, ‘have a try’) in honour of the PyeongChang Winter Games. Try slapping a puc into a goal, do some curling or go go-nutting, which is like human curling on rubber doughnuts. There’s Prosecco to be won and afterwards, revive at the onsite MeatLiquor.

The Royal Academy
RA Lates
Let’s party like it’s 1649! Actually that doesn’t quite work as we’re celebrating the life of King Charles the 1st and 1649 was something of an auspicious year for him, what with the beheading and all that, but either way the Royal Academy are putting on one of their lates and it looks great. Set a decade pre-head-chopping-off in 1640 the RA will be transformed into Charles’ Whitehall Palace with costumes, food and drink. Dress code: courtly decadence.
