What To Do This Weekend: 5th – 7th May
OK so it may not be a 3-day weekend (sigh) but that doesn’t stop a number of new brunches, a cheese festival, rum celebration and Cinco De Mayo festivities. Let’s just say this weekend you won’t be going hungry…
Taste of Barbados
Three Days of Cooking and Rum
So, the forecast said that it was going to be sunny this weekend but right now we think they might have got that one wrong…but that’s OK because we can pretend we are in warmer climates at the Taste of Barbados. Taking place on South Molton Street, it’s three days of celebrating Bajan culture, cuisine, music, art and of course rum. There’ll be cookery demonstrations from top Barbadian chefs such as Michelin trained Jason Howard and Anthony Cumberbatch. There’ll be a rum masterclass with Mount Gay Rum ambassador, Miguel Smith, and mixology classes hosted by Global Rum ambassador, Ian Burrell. There’ll also be live music from the likes of Arturo Tappin & Band. Nikkita and Jazz and Calypsonians Red Plastic Bag.

The Hyde Bar
Book Ahead: Whisky Tasting
Being a connoisseur of any spirit is fairly high up on our bucket list, and while we like to think we know a fair bit about gin, the world of Scotch is a whole ‘nother ball game. The Hyde Bar are unlocking the secrets of Scotch by teaming up with Speyside distillery, Macallan, for a Scotch whiskey tasting masterclass that we hope will turn us all into pros. Learn about the history of the drink’s production after cocktails and canapés and, of course, get to try the stuff – Macallan Rare Cask, The Macallan Reflexion, Macallan M Decanter and Macallan Oscuro will all be on offer. Guests will also receive a very special personalised bottle of Macallan Rare Cask signed by Master Blender at the Macallan Distillery.
