What To Do This Weekend: 5th-7th August
It’s fitting (and rightly so) that the first weekend of August is set to be a sunny one so get outside and make the most of summer whilst it’s here. This weekend there’s everything from street food to waterslides, gin bars to a jerk fest and in case you didn’t know, Sunday is National Hangover Day so celebrate accordingly – what about trying out Randy’s Wing Bar’s brand new chicken and wing brunch? See you there.
Wray & Nephew
Rooftop Jerk Fest
In the mood for some island vibes? You’re in luck, as Wray & Nephew (the number-one rum in Jamaica!) is taking over Bussey Rooftop Bar for a nine hour jerk fest featuring a jerk BBQ battle between six of London’s finest jerk specialists, rum punch, DJs, a screening of a cult Jamaican film and a live graffiti mural. Guests can also test their drink-making skills in the Free Pour challenge and Reggae Rum Punch Relay. And because the al fresco bar is located a mere two minutes walk from Peckham Rye Station, you won’t have to worry about being too full to waddle your way home.

Randy’s Wing Bar
Wing Brunch
Because we’re always looking for another new restaurant to love, head down to Randy’s this weekend as they launch their new chicken and wing brunch on Saturday. The new joint opened up this June and is dedicating itself to finger-licking wings. And, like true chicken enthusiasts, they don’t want us to have to wait for lunchtime to get our weekend wing fix. That’s why they’re putting their own spin on weekend brunch with plates of macon waffle wings (maple, bacon & pickled blueberry wings on a waffle) or the Full Randy’s (their own take on an English breakfast with bacon wrapped wings, buffalo bake beans, sausage and a fried egg). And if you were hoping to brekkie with your bestie who insists on cornflakes to start their day – you can’t miss out on their brilliant bourbon, burnt butter syrup and cornflake ice-cream hardshake. Win, win.

Caught By The River Thames
Music, Arts and Nature
Caught By The River Thames is the inaugural London festival from the good folks behind Heavenly Recordings and the excellent Caught By The River website. Taking place on the grounds of Fulham Palace which is an incredible hidden gem, the lineup includes headliners Super Furry Animals and Low alongside the likes of Mulatu Astatke, Sun Ra Arkestra, Beth Orton and Temples plus readings and a Poetry chapel (in an actual on site chapel). There’ll also be some great food and drink with an emphasis on local brewers and produce.

New Summer Cocktail and Food Menu
No. 1 Duke Street, along with No. 11 Pimlico Road, No. 32 The Old Town and No. 197 Chiswick Fire Station are bringing the taste of summer to Richmond, Clapham, Chiswick and Chelsea. The neighborhood bars have unveiled a carefully curated summer menu of cocktail infusions and seasonal dishes made from locally sourced food, all scratch cooked on site. The drinks menu offers a rich cocktail selection, a range of local craft and international beers and lagers and a well-considered wine selection. Personally, we’re going for the blueberry ricotta pancakes. Yum!

Craft London
Sipsmith Summer Terrace
Sipsmith are the guys to thank for London’s gin revival and after a busy summer with pop-ups here and there, their latest (temporary) home is at Craft London, the new restaurant designed by Tom Dixon. The Sipsmith Summer Terrace only opened on Wednesday so get down for the opening weekend and a refreshing summer cocktail in very stylish surroundings with great views across London. The pop-up is open daily from 5pm, except Monday and Tuesday. On Saturdays it opens from 1pm and hey, it’s free entry.

Street Feast
Al Fresco Summer Feasting
The forecast this weekend is set to be pretty good so make the most of it and head to one of the four Street Feast locations; Dinerama, Dalston Yard, Model Market and Hawker House for some of the best street food London has to offer. Canada Water’s Hawker House has tiki huts, a ‘land of bamboo’ and sandpits whilst Shoreditch’s Dinerama has some seriously tempting food from Fundi, Smokestak and BBQ Lab. Summer feasting at its finest.

Surf N Turf
Surf and Turf 10 Date Pop-Up
Jimmy’s back. Jimmy Garcia…? Still not ringing any bells? Pop-up king behind this summer’s BBQ Club, The Lodge in winter and last summer’s Secret Garden is back with his latest gastronomical experience; Surf and Turf. This weekend will see the 2nd and 3rd dates of only ten in this round of pop-ups, so don’t waste any time in sampling a feast of lobster, oysters and cote de boeuf. Wash it all down with a Pimm’s Royale granita and finish on a sweet note with a picnic basket of sweet treats that would be perfect to enjoy at the beach. See the website for dates.

Splash Fest
Slip and Slide Obstacle Course
The weatherman is on our side so what better than getting a little wet and wild this weekend at London’s first family-friendly obstacle course. Splash Fest is coming to Battersea Park on Sunday; 2.5km of watery fun but it’s not a totally smooth ride as you encounter a crazy canyon, slip-slide stream and geyser-sprouting wild wild waters. Bring a towel and get your ticket online – all money goes to the RNLI so it’s a great cause.
