Now that we’ve waved goodbye to the present shopping and mince pies, it’s a good time to start trying out those New Year’s resolutions you’d promised yourself you would stick to this year. Get ahead of the curve and replace the gin with the gym, sigh. Seriously though, now that the winter weather is here it’s incredibly tempting to crawl back under the covers and not get up at the crack of dawn and head to the gym (come on, I know you snoozed your alarm this morning), but to get your blood pumping and back in the fitness groove, we’ve rounded up London’s most luxurious gyms that you’ll certainly want to snap a selfie in (and shake away the winter cobwebs of course!).
Grab your finest gym gear, slip on your trainers and let’s get sweat, sweat, sweating!

With the Anthony Joshua seal of approval, London’s finest boxing gym is housed in a 12,000 square foot space in the heart of Marylebone. Marketed as a high-end boxing gym, it offers state-of-the-art equipment, paired with changing rooms stocked with complimentary Malin & Goetz products and sauna and steam facilities. Its sleek and stylish interior is a moody nod to industrial chic, from Berman Interiors. Non-members can try out classes based on cardio, strength and conditioning and boxing training at their pay-to-train studio, Sweat by BXR.
High-end gyms tend to be restrictive – yes the services are great but you find yourself locked into lengthly, expensive contracts. 1REBEL somewhat revolutionised the London exercise scene when it opened back in 2015 offering all the luxury of a boutique studio (fridges packed with cold towels, Aromatherapy Associates toiletries and GHDs) whilst referring to itself and the ‘anti-gym’ – hence the name. Forget what you know about classes and book in for one of their signature RIDE, RESHAPE or RUMBLE sessions. You’ll feel like you’ve been at a secret underground rave by the time you’re sat back at your desk with perfectly straightened hair.
Another_Space does luxury in an affordable way. Simply buy your credits online and drop in to one of their yoga, HIIT or cycle classes whenever you want. The studios are high tech (think electric screens covering the windows of the studios of privacy), the operation is slick (you’ll be given a numbered mat to practice at) and you can end with a juice from the upstairs juice bar packed with KIN protein.
Mindset Fit are right on the money because, after all, your mindset is the most important thing when it comes to hitting the gym. The gym has been designed to help its users rejuvenate their mental and emotional health alongside keeping fit, offering a range of five bespoke group training classes across its 3,500 sq ft. And, you haven’t got to worry about hunting for the dumbbells because the Mindset Fit set up isn’t complicated at all. There are two large studio areas where the classes will take place, which includes a nutrition bar and designer showers and changing rooms.
Bootcamps have a bit of a bad reputation but there’s no denying they’re a hit with the celebrities. Barry’s Bootcamp London follows its hugely successful Stateside predecessor. The red-lit room features a row of high tech treadmills alongside a row of individual steps and each day focuses on a different muscle group – so there’ll be no missing out on leg day…
Aside from looking really rather cool, Psycle is also a space that’s got it all going on. With a mission that triumphs people, connection, strength and community, there are a range of classes on offer from yoga to barre to strength and ride. But, don’t get your zen on just yet; Psycle focus on pushing boundaries and testing limits, to get you working out to the best of your ability, slacker!
Barrecore has become a fitness haven for eager exercisers alike. When Niki Rein moved from LA to London she found that the barre classes that she loved at home hadn’t made it across the pond, so in 2011 she set up Barrecorre, the first specialist barre studio in London. Fast forward to 2020 and London is abrim with barre classes for all levels and abilities, set to pumping music to get you in the groove.
Known for being a hit with the celebs and influencers, Bodyism is a holistic health club that works as much to make you feel relaxed as it does to give you a great exercise class. The light expels vitamin D and the air is pure and oxygenated, so as they say just stepping into the club will benefit you.
