With the summer inching closer, there’s only one way we want to spend it: sipping cocktails at one of London’s best summer terraces. Luckily for you, we’ve rounded up a selection of our favourites, from rooftop bars with soaring views over the city to cosy roadside terraces perfect for people watching. The MAINE Mayfair

Looking for a sun-filled spot to while away an afternoon on? Look to The MAINE Mayfair and the opening of their private terrace this spring. 

Located in the original gardens of 20 Hanover Square, the 100-cover space is abrim with wicker furniture and greenery, as well as plenty of cocktails and rosé to fuel you through the summer. The menu features raw bar items, charcuterie, small plates and wood-fired fish and meats, and also a delicious brunch menu perfect for lazy weekends.

The Garden at The Lane

Overlooking the Covent Garden Piazza, The Garden at The Lane is the perfect summertime hideout. Head down before your Frozen performance and delight on cocktails such as The Prince’s Punch, made up of No3 Gin, Yellow Chartreuse, suze, peppermint, lime, agave and Franklin & Sons soda water; or The King’s Punch, with Everleaf Forest, bergamot, lemon and cranberry, both of which are served with Lily Vanilli’s afternoon tea.

The two cocktails are named after King George IV and the Prince Regent who so famously fell out after the Prince’s drunken behaviour. Because of their rift, TRDL is the only theatre in the world with two royal boxes!

The Churchill Bar & Terrace

Perfect for the nights when it’s a little chillier, The Churchill Bar’s terrace is heated and a cosy oasis from the hustle and bustle of Marylebone village. Expect to find a leafy terrace hidden outside, complete with subtle nods to the former prime minister Winston Churchill. 

Head bartender Christian Maspes and his team of mixologists will be on hand to whizz up some delicious cocktails, from the Cephalonia, a mix of olive oil fat washed Metaxa, Myers rum, celery and basil juice, Contreau and marzipan syrup, to the High Altitude, a blend of Dobel tequila, Oloroso sherry, paprika cordial and cardamom extract.

Dalloway Terrace

Head to Dalloway Terrace to uncover this season’s most Instagrammable terrace makeover. The Bloomsbury hideout has once again been transformed into a natural garden abrim with wildflowers. Created by floral designers Early Hours, the transformation nods to the British countryside, filled with blossom, tulips and ranunculus. 

Alongside the makeover, expect a cocktail and food menu to match. They’ve partnered with The Botanist Gin to create a cocktail menu filled with botanical flavours and crisp seasonal aromas. While the food, created by head pastry chef Chris Dodd, has been designed to complement the cocktails with a herbal afternoon tea.

The Happenstance

Looking out over St Paul’s Cathedral, The Happenstance is the perfect oasis to catch-up with friends over cocktails. This summer, step into the warmer weather with a cocktail in hand. We love the Bloom in the City and the Wheel of Flowertune, made with vanilla-infused vodka, peach and jasmine.

Aqua Kyoto

Aqua Kyoto has undergone a transformation on its terrace, becoming a floral haven abrim with silk hydrangeas and panoramic views over the city. The terrace’s menu boasts an exciting range of cocktails, from the Sweet Escape, mixing Pampero ru, Chambord, Peach Schnapps, vanilla, passion fruit and lemon, to the Geisha, combining sake, vodka, lychee and rose. 

To keep your hunger pangs away, delight in prawn and shiso tempura with yuzu kosho mayo; spicy tuna, tabaki and avocado maki rolls; and a salmon bento box.

Views don’t come much better than Madison’s magical terrace. Situated right above St Paul’s Cathedral, the terrace has partnered with Italian Rosolio spirit, Italicus to launch an exclusive ‘spritz menu experience’.

Inspired by the Amalfi Coast, the terrace features wicker seats, lemon trees, foliage and floral arrangements, all paired alongside spritz that’ll transport you to Italy.

The Gantry

Stratford’s hottest new hotel, The Gantry has launched its summer terrace in partnership with South African gin brand, Inverroche. It launched to coincide with World Earth Day and is centred around sustainability. 

The pop-up menu is presented on plantable seeded paper menus, coasters and tag garnishes which can be taken home and planted to create bee friendly wildflowers in the garden. The terrace itself is sowed with English meadow flowers, providing a countryside-inspired oasis. 

On the menu are small plates of charcuterie and cheese boards with homemade pear jelly; wild garlic and Cornish yarg arancini; and homemade Portuguese style salted cod fritters, as well as some larger dishes to share too.

AllBright Mayfair will be taking Londoners on an adventure to the Med, one cocktail at a time. They’ve partnered with Malfy Gin and Petra Palumbo homemade to bring the Mediterranean to the heart of Mayfair. 

Spend your weekend sipping on refreshing cocktails complete with an Italian twist and pair them with AllBright’s resident head chef Carlos Pinerez’s dishes.

Hidden inside South Place Hotel, you’ll find Angler, the Michelin-starred restaurant that’s home to a stunning rooftop terrace. The perfect place to soak up the best of London’s seafood scene whatever the weather thanks to its retractable roof and heaters, making it perfect for every weather.

London Shuffle Club

With outdoor space at a premium in Shoreditch, a table on the London Shuffle Club outdoor terrace is a hot ticket. The venue is best known for its supercharged game of shuffleboard but it makes way for the ideal spot for beers and cocktails in the sun too. 

The cocktail menu changes with the season, but you can always go classic with an Aperol Spritz or a refreshing Margarita to mentally transport you to holiday climes. With a fully retractable roof, the sun shines down on the terrace from dawn till dusk, making London Shuffle Club the perfect spot for a lunchtime pint or post-work cocktails in the evening sun.

Harvey Nichols

Wave hello to the longer nights with Harvey Nichols’ new jungle-inspired terrace. Created in partnership with Monkey 47 Schwarzwald Dry Gin, you can sip on cocktails late into the evening and imagine you’re in the tropics… 

Tucked away on the fifth floor, the terrace has been given a tropical makeover, complete with hanging vines, exotic plants and festoon lights. Enjoy Monkey 47 gin cocktails while catching up with friends in this fun setting. 

Cocktail menu highlights include the Sunset in the Jungle, made with Monkey 47 infused with passion fruit syrup, lime juice, Savoia Americano and pineapple juice; and the Blood orange Sgroppino, a mix of Monkey 47 infused with Savoia Americano, lemon juice and sugar topped with Harvey Nichols Prosecco and adorned with a blood orange sorbet – yum.

Corinthia London

A little slice of the Mediterranean right in the heart of London, The Garden at Corinthia returns for another summer season. Expect a high-end take on Mediterranean favourites prepared by Executive Chef André Garrett and elegant cocktails that reawaken past holiday memories imagined by Bars Manager Alena Cagnato.

Tuck into dishes such as marinated red tuna with radish, apple and olive oil; Fiorentina-style t-bone steak with garlic and herb butter and baked long aubergine; and fresh macaroni with lobster and courgette.

The Richmond Club

The Richmond Club, the first private members club in Richmond, is a true hidden gem in West London that offers a fantastic spacious garden in which to indulge with Classic and Signature cocktails created by their master cocktail makers. With a stunning fire pit taking centre stage, the Whisky and Cigar Terrace, with its own ‘Naughty Corner’, is the place to sit back and relax and enjoy a Whisky Sour or an Old Fashioned. While the afternoon away on the incredibly comfy sofas, bedecked with sheepskin throws, and plush cushions keeping you cosy as you soak up the mood of the day in the calm oasis amid leafy Richmond.

Aperol lovers, look to Eataly’s Al Fresco – Aperol Spritzeria restaurant to get your spritz fix this summer. The ground floor terrace, located out the front of the building, is complete with orange trees, neon signs and orange accents.

Tuck into antipasti bites of smoked salmon with grilled courgette and lemon; beef bresaola served with rocket and parmesan; and fresh ricotta, Sicilian caponata topped with honey dressing and walnuts.

The Roof Terrace at The Sloane

As flowers bloom and leaves on trees start to breathe fresh new life into the landscape, longer days and warmer temperatures ensure the promise that summer is on its way. The Roof Terrace at The Sloane is getting ready to re-open on 9th May and unveil its new vibrant British/Javanese menu to celebrate al fresco dining at its finest.

The terrace menu has been given a seasonal refresh, celebrating the best of British summer flavours with an exotic twist, from Thai green papaya salad and English green asparagus ceviche to the messy aromatic lemongrass chicken burger. All dishes can be accompanied with a refreshing cocktail or mocktail from the mixology team such as Aperol 1919, or a glass of crisp rosé.

For Londoners and visitors with a penchant for outdoor dining and drinking, The Roof Terrace at The Sloane is a luscious outdoor space lined with verdant plant walls and stylish, comfortable furniture. Canopies ensure shady spots out of the sun and heaters keep the terrace toasty once night time descends. Part of a private members club, The Sloane Club, The Roof Terrace at The Sloane is open for club members and for the first time this year, the general public until it closes at the end of summer. Every Friday night, an evening of live music takes place with the weekly Sloane Sessions where dulcet guitar tones dance in the air for guests enjoying the outside space.

The Little Orange Door

Whether you’re after brunch or cocktails at dusk, The Little Orange Door is your Clapham key to success. Their little outdoor oasis is filled with all things colourful, from cosy pillows to orange table decorations. 

On the menu, you’ll find a selection of light bites and delicious pizzas, available by the slice, 14” or an epic 22” monster. Plus, there’s plenty of cocktails to go around.

For a secret summer terrace experience, 116 Pall Mall is home to a wonderful, secluded garden and terrace perfect for dining and drinks. Step into this tranquil terrace surrounded by lush greenery for a delicious post-work alfresco cocktail with colleagues or friends. You won’t find many gardens like this in the heart of London, located just a stone’s throw from Piccadilly Circus and Regents Street. 

Built on the site of a former palace and just down the road from Buckingham Palace, they’ll be launching the special Jubilee themed terrace to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum jubilee in June, so keep your eyes peeled for a Jubilee summer party package and cocktail menu coming soon…


Make your way up to floor number 39 and experience some of the best views over East London. Bokan serves up some of the best European style dishes and cocktails you won’t want to miss.
