Mr Fogg’s is one of the best themed cocktail bars in London, taking you back to the Victorian era with their fantastic drinks and atmosphere. Now the brilliant cocktail makers are opening up a brand new outlet, with this one joining two others in Mayfair this June.

The bars, if you don’t know, are themed around the life and adventures of Phileas Fogg, the central protagonist and traveller in the famous Jules Verne novel Around The World In 80 Days. The cocktails served aim to give you a delicious mini tour of world flavourings and tastes, and the new Apothecary is no exception.

This new opening wants to go one step further, aiming to recreate the various elixirs and potions that Fogg collected on his 80 day expedition. These are “made from plants, powders, saps and antivenoms from all ends of the earth, these are tonics and remedies Fogg swears by for every ailment imaginable and he couldn’t be more excited to share these with trusted friends and explorers.” There’s not many other places you’ll be able to find such creatively made cocktails in London.

The drinks that’ll be served up include ‘The Traveller’s Tonic’ which mixes Hennessy X.O. Cognac, Woodford Reserve Rye whiskey, Carpano Antica Formula vermouth, Grand Marnier orange liqueur and Mr Fogg’s Apothecary bitters. The‘Rose Remedy’, meanwhile is a delicious sounding gin cocktail with ingredients like Secret Garden Apothecary Rose gin, Lillet Blanc wine-based apéritif, Apothecary shrub, rose water, lime juice and egg white.

The bar itself is located opposite iconic hotel Claridge’s, and is suitably luxurious and in keeping with the period setting: a grand staircase greets patrons upon arriving, leading down to the main bar. The main drawing room, reminiscent of a Mayfair townhouse, features armchairs and sofas for you to relax in, and grandfather clocks and portraits of Fogg’s most trusted companions adorn the walls. You can also find plenty of curiosities that the famed explorer picked up from his travels.

There’s also the very swish sounding Elixir Room, with contains 24 different Hennessy cabinets. All of these have their own unique key lock, and regulars to the bar may be able to acquire one of their own to store their own spirits in if they choose. It can also be hired privately, and there’s also three large booths that can be sat in for an even more comfortable experience. The Apothecary is open from Tuesdays to Saturdays with an initial opening hour schedule of 16:00- Midnight, and you’ll be able to try for yourself when it opens on 1st June.
