There’s lots to look forward to this month, with Wimbledon upon us and lots of sunshine on the cards (hopefully) – and London’s buzzing restaurant scene isn’t disappointing us this either. From Korean and Japanese to delicious Sri Lankan cuisine, there’s lots to look forward to if you’re eager to visit a new restaurant in London this month. These are our picks of the city’s most exciting new openings in July:

Goodbye Horses

With a kitchen led by Head Chef Jack Coggins, Goodbye Horses will open as a wine bar and restaurant set in an old pub that has been restored using local crafts and materials. The menu on offer will be seasonal and sustainable and includes dishes like chicken fat and sardine toast; Cornish crab blini; baby leeks, green garlic and hazelnut; cuttlefish, emmer wheat sauce and chilli; and puddings like honey cake. Plus, expect a curated wine list by Wine Director, Nathalie Nelles, who celebrates organic wine producers. You can also look forward to some old-school vibes with a backdrop of vinyl albums selected from Goodbye Horses’ extensive 2,500-plus library.

Engel and Jang

Engel and Jang are two exciting openings to look forward this month. Opening at London’s iconic Royal Exchange, Engel will have a cocktail bar, terrace and performance space all inspired by the opulence of 1920s Berlin.  With luxurious art-deco interiors, interesting cocktails and incredible performances on the cards, this one sounds like the real Cabaret experience. Meanwhile, Jang offers delicious, modern interpretations of Korean and Japanese cuisine, where you can experience the spirit of Kyoto and Seoul. Highlights of the menu include Korean steak tartare, a mouthwatering Korean BBQ and an impressive Bossam Tower featuring Iberico pork belly bossam, slowly cooked in a doenjang broth, accompanied by oysters, endive kimchi and samjang, plus a sushi and sashimi selection served on an ornate alligator-shaped platter.

Highroad Social

Nestled in Greenwich, the restaurant is designed to be a celebration of modern British cuisine, with an emphasis on seasonal ingredients, responsibly sourced from the British Isles. Head chef Fionnan Flood is at the helm here, serving a variety of small, large, and sharing plates, inspired by his grandmother’s love for cooking. On the menu are standout dishes like Hereford beef raw on toast with smoked crème fraiche and cured egg yolk, Scottish scallops, Carlingford oysters, and Cornish crabs. Plus, don’t miss the Glamorgan pork croquette with toffee apple sauce, barbecued razor-clams with baked garlic and lemon sauce, braised ox tongue, beef cheek, bone broth with house pickles, pistachio; and a shallot tarte tatin with British ricotta and thyme to share.

Albert Schloss

Albert’s Schloss’ fourth opening looks like a must-visit this month. Located in the iconic Trocadero on Shaftesbury Avenue, the venue is spread over two floors with five bars, a stage for performances and an on-site bakery for Bavarian treats. The new day-to-night spot will also have an Alpine-inspired beer hall with live entertainment seven days a week and room for 600 guests. Expect the best selection Bavarian and Bohemian beer, with unpasteurised Pilsner Urquell delivered directly from the brewery in Pilsen each week. If you’re more interested in cocktails, there will be some innovative drinks on offer like the Bacchus Barrel, served in a Saint Bernard’s barrel with Bulleit bourbon, merlot, bärenjäger, lemon, and demerara, alongside the Diamond Margarita, with Altos tequila, Briottet rose, orgeat syrup, and lime juice.

Harry’s

After Harry’s Bar and Harry’s Dolce Vitam Italian restaurant, Harry’s will be opening this July in Victoria. Expect all of the restaurant’s favourites from some delicious pasta to the iconic toadstool dessert. The Venetian-inspired venue will have two sun-kissed terraces, an open restaurant and a raised bar area, and is set to offer all-day dining from breakfast through to dinner, with a separate bar area serving an aperitivo selection.

Kaso

One Hundred Shoreditch will open its doors to a sparkling new bar and kitchen at its iconic rooftop this month, that’s all set to bring the best of the Eastern Mediterranean to the East End. Kaso will offer small plates and cocktails against the backdrop of DJs throughout the week, and of course, gorgeous city views. Head Chef Ilknur Celik has created a stunning menu that reflects her upbringing in Istanbul, with dishes like muhammara with pomegranate and walnut, grilled lamb cutlets with fig and pistachio and octopus with samphire. Don’t miss the traditional regional desserts like muhallebi, served with Greek mastic, pistachio and rose petals.

Dez Amore

Dez Amore is bringing its authentic Italian food to the heart of London, with the Chelsea venue set to be its first full restaurant. Expect fresh, handmade food with an open kitchen, serving everything from traditional antipasti boards to fresh, handmade pasta and pan-cooked thin and crispy pizza, as well as Tuscan burgers and desserts by Badiani 1932. The perfect place to head to for a hearty Italian meal, expect classic Italian at its retro finest.
