For the past eleven years, Joseph Arowolo has been running the bars at Sketch but now he has left Mayfair and headed east to open MAP Maison, a new cocktail bar in Haggerston.
The bar will see a slice of Mayfair glitz brought to the Kingsland Road, with the aim to give their guests their own private cocktail bar – and how will they do that? With the introduction of personalised liquor lockers for MAP members. Which means if you’re a member, you’ll hold the key and then if you buy a bottle you can drink it over time rather than having to try and drink it all in a night. It also means you’ll have a Maison Private Guest Card which gives you access to the speakeasy bar and secret terrace.
To drink, there’ll be many rare bottles of spirits such as Havana Maximo and Pappy van Winkle, whilst signature cocktails include Aged Mezcal Negroni, Black Sea, Eu and Me, Bloody Mary Brunch and Supreme Expression. During the day they’ll serve Momouth Coffee, breakfast, lunch through to cocktails and late night snacks with small plates including charcuterie, cheese boards and the likes of salted barbecue almonds.
Mayfair, meet Haggerston. Let’s have a drink.
