Palm Royale, Apple’s 60s Set Period Drama Returns

Apple TV’s 60s set period-dramedy Palm Royale is back for another season this month, with Kristen Wiig returning as central character Maxine. Season 1 was all about the aspiring socialite attempting to break into the ranks of high society in Palm Beach, Florida, but Season 2 sees her position jeopardised after a scandalous set of events occurs. It’ll have more of the eye-popping 60s fashion and style- here’s everything you need to know:
How did Palm Royale Season 1 end, and where will Season 2 go?
Season 2 of Palm Royale picks up soon after Season 1’s finale left off- with the final episode having been pretty explosive. It ended (spoilers of course!) with Maxine disgraced and at threat of losing all she has going for her when she has a public meltdown- caused by revelations including her friend Norma (Carol Burnett) is actually trying to kill her, and that her husband is being unfaithful. She makes an embarrassing speech at an event that happens to be attended by President Nixon, and to make matters worse, someone attempts to shoot him, accidentally hitting Maxine’s friend Robert (Ricky Martin). It’s nothing if not dramatic.

So, where will Maxine go now in Season 2, having seen her only real friend shot and having fallen apart in front of hundreds? As expected, she’s now something of a social pariah after those events, and is left to pick up the pieces and work out how to move forward. However, she’s not about to give up on her life and ambitions that easily, and starts formulating a few cunning plans to get herself back into the good graces of Palm Beach’s more exclusive circles. As she sets out to prove herself, she may well also uncover some of the town’s well-hidden secrets- it seems that not everyone is a law-abiding citizen. Meanwhile, there are some other unanswered questions- like whether Ricky, who looked near certain death after his shooting, really is dead. And what will the fallout be from both Maxine’s husband’s infidelity and Norma’s desire to murder her?
Who else stars, and when can I watch?
