It’s clearly the season for rom-coms, and we are all here for it. With the final chapter of Bridget Jones now in theatres, we’ll be looking for something to fill the space soon and this new film looks like just the thing.

Starring Bridgerton’s Simone Ashley and After‘s Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Picture This is giving some serious Bend It Like Beckham vibes – with a big Indian wedding in the mix and a daughter averse to her family’s penchant for matchmaking.

We see Ashley play a struggling photographer Pia, who receives a prediction that says “true love and career success await her in the next five dates she goes on.” Only to have her ex, played by Hero Fiennes appear on the scene once again to cause some tension.

What do we know about the film?

Picture This is reportedly inspired by the Australian rom-com Five Blind Dates, which has a similar plotline. From the trailer, it looks like we can expect some stunning Indian wedding fashion, big dance numbers and plenty of long, lingering looks courtesy of Ashley and Fiennes Tiffin. (If you’ve seen Bridgerton and the After series, of course, you know that these are two actors who really know how to do that).

Other than that, we see Pia at the helm of a dying photography studio, insisting that she doesn’t need to get married to live her life – with her mother insisting that she actually doesn’t know what she wants. Her family and friends set her up on dates with five different men but unfortunately, each date seems worse than the other. To make matters trickier, Pia’s charming ex has made a reappearance and while she’s taking photos of him, he confesses that he still thinks about her. As she navigates family pressure, sisterly duties, her career and a past flame, it looks like Pia has some big choices to make – and we can’t wait for all the Bollywood-esque dance sequences in between all of that drama.

Who else stars?

Directed by Prarthana Mohan, the film also features British comedian and actress, Sindhu Vee (The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh) who plays Ashley’s mother. Others in the cast include Luke Fetherston (Big Mood), Nikesh Patel (Starstruck), Adil Ray (Citizen Khan), Anoushka Chadha and Phil Dunster (Ted Lasso).

When can we watch Picture This?

Promos for the film are in full swing, and Picture This will be available to stream globally on Prime Video from today [6th March].
