Blink and you’ll miss it, spooky season is upon us and if you’re a Halloween fiend like us, you’ll have been counting down the days until Halloween for a while now. To really eke out the most of the spooky season, start early and head to one of the UK’s best pumpkin patches.

Whether you’re on the search for the roundest pumpkin or you’re itching to get a picture for the ‘gram, here are the best pumpkin patches to visit this October, all open now.

Hewitts Farm

Halloween lovers should head to Hewitts Farm, the 78-acre family-run farm just outside of Orpington Kent. 

Bursting with plump pumpkins ready for carving and seasonal squashes perfect for roasting, the farm provides the perfect day out for all of the family. Here you’ll find everything from plums to cooking apples, courgettes to beetroots all ready to be picked.

It’s a little trek outside of the city but it’s a day out that’ll get the little ones excited and prepped for the spooky season ahead.

Stanhill Farm

Family-run and located just 17 miles from central London, Stanhill Farm harvests around 20-30 varieties of fruit and vegetables every year. With Halloween around the corner, this year create a new, annual family tradition and head to Stanhill Farm to pick your own pumpkin. 

Spend your day running through the rows of sunflowers, rummaging for seasonal veggies and picking out the perfect pumpkin for carving.

Picking Patch 

Escape the city and head to Picking Patch, this pumpkin haven can be found all over the country, with various locations in Chester, Warlingham, Porthcrawl and more.

It’s a fun and affordable way to get geared up for the spooky season and snap up a photo for the ‘gram. Scour the fields and find a gem for carving or roasting for the ultimate autumnal dish. 

Open on select dates during October.

Garsons Farm

Blink and you’ll miss the spooky season altogether, which is why you should zoom on over to Garsons Farm to pick your own orange pumpkin quick. 

Home to the UK’s largest pick-your-own selection, Garsons boasts over 75 varieties of crops every year, from strawberries to sunflowers, courgettes to peas, and come autumn the fields are filled with pumpkins. 

Big or small, white, green or orange, Garsons has your pumpkin needs covered. You’ll need to book online to receive your Farm Pass in order to be let into the PYO fields.

The Pop-Up Farm

The Pop Up Farm is back and it’s bursting with more pumpkins and gourds than ever. The fields are filled with old-fashioned fun. Expect everything from stacking up hay bales and relaxing in the ten-acre field of oats to battling through the 55-metre straw maze with the kiddies – try not to get too lost…

Not forgetting to pick up a ripe pumpkin to carve a ghoulish face into and a squash to make a hearty autumn soup with.
