Red, White & Royal Blue: Everything We Know About The Star-Studded Series

With films like Pain Hustlers and The Mother, Netflix is usually the place to be when it comes to original streaming movies, but Amazon has got some exciting film projects of its own coming up. One we’re excited for is Red, White & Royal Blue. Adapted from Casey McQuiston’s novel of the same name, this is the romcom of the summer.
Here’s everything you need to know about Red, White & Royal Blue

Centred around the growing romance of the (fictional) son of the president of the United States and the Prince of Wales, McQuiston’s Red, White & Royal Blue was released in 2019 and was praised for its fun, escapist nature and portrayal of LGBTQ+ romance. Its success meant an adaptation was inevitable, and it was quickly snapped up for a Prime Video film.
Who has been cast so far?
Actor Nicholas Galitzine, who appeared in Cinderella and Purple Hearts, is set to play the dutiful Prince Henry, while Taylor Zakhar Perez, best known for starring in The Kissing Booth 2 and 3, is playing the ambitious Alex.
As the two navigate their relationship and some of the cultural differences between Britain and America, they’re joined by an eclectic cast of characters, and there are some big names in the mix to portray them. Ellen Claremont, mother of Alex and the first female President of the United States will be played by Uma Thurman. She’s intelligent and dedicated to her momentous job but still shows support and warmth toward her son with his personal life.
Other prominent castings include Stephen Fry, Clifton Collins Jr., Sarah Shahi, Rachel Hilson, Ellie Bamber and Sharon D. Clarke.
The project is being directed meanwhile by award winning playwright Matthew Lopez in his directorial debut. While we’re still waiting on a first official trailer, Amazon has released a first look with the film’s poster, showing Alex and Henry gazing at each other with the tagline “Love gets royally complicated.”
When is it released?
Expect plenty of heartwarming romantic fun when Red White & Royal Blue releases on 11th August.
