If there’s one person we’d be happy to see more of on our screens, it’s Reese Witherspoon. The actress has had a regular starring role in Apple TV’s The Morning Show and has been doing a lot of producing work on films like Where The Crawdads Sing and Lucy in the Sky, but hasn’t had an on-screen film role since 2018’s A Wrinkle in Time. That’s set to change however with next year’s romcom movie Your Place or Mine, which is coming to Netflix and costars Ashton Kutcher.

Written and directed by Alison Brosh McKenna, whose previous work includes writing The Devil Wears Prada, 27 Dresses and Cruella, Your Place or Mine focuses on Debbie (Witherspoon), who decides she wants to break out of her safe but monotonous routine and pursue a life long dream. Her best friend, Peter, (Kutcher) meanwhile is someone who always loves change and trying new things. The two are total opposites- but decide to take a chance and “swap lives” for a week, with Debbie flying to New York and Peter to LA. And, as often happens with big life changes, the two find that what they think they need might not be what they actually need.

As well as swapping cities, Peter takes on a new responsibility for himself: looking after Debbie’s teenage son, with all the ups and downs that entails. The rest of the plot, and what the two friends get up to in their house swap is still under wraps, but what we do know is that there are a few other big names in the cast: comedian Tig Notaro (One Mississippi) is set to appear, along with Steve Zahn (The White Lotus), Jesse Williams (Grey’s Anatomy), Zoe Chao (The Afterparty), and Rachel Bloom (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend).

Like most of Witherspoon’s big projects in the past few years, the film is being developed by her production company Hello Sunshine. Filming began late last year in Brooklyn, and the film is slated to release early next year, on 10th February. There’s not been an official trailer yet- but you can bet one is just around the corner. Netflix has released a small sneak peek, introduced by Witherspoon, which you can check out below:
