Long Bar, Sanderson London

Few places have more of a celebrity reputation than Sanderson London’s Long Bar. Over the years it’s seen just about everyone waltz (or, rather, stumble) through the doors and party hard, from the time when Kate Moss threw an epic bash for Mario Testino through to the legendary BRIT after parties. Now the life of the party returns to London with a monumental reputation to live up to – and that it certainly does.

Located inside Sanderson London, just steps from Oxford Street, the Long Bar’s reputation lives on thanks to its reopening. The city’s hub of nightlife, the Long Bar is aptly named, home to a remarkable 80 feet in length bar with striking interiors you won’t find anywhere else.

Now reopened and back up and running, the iconic bar is just as mesmerising now as it has ever been. French industrial designer Philippe Starck is to thank for this, designing the stylish onyx bar. Expect striking eye covered stools lining the counters – it’s all eyes on you.

Once you’ve pulled up a pew at the bar, their expert team of mixologists will be on hand to mix up a drink. Their menu is lined with Champagnes, wines and plenty of signature cocktails. Sip into the night on favourites such as The Catwalk, made with Ketel One vodka, lychee liqueur, pink grapefruit and fresh lemon; Feng Shui, combining Ki No Bi Kyoto Gin, Umeshu sake, Campari and citrus oils; and The Mysterious Fashion, featuring oolong tea infused Monkey Shoulder Whiskey, D.O.M. Benedictine, pear cognac, tawny port wine, cherry syrup and dry vermouth.

If the hunger pangs arrive, their dining menu is filled with nibbles, small plates, larger plates and grill options. Expect the likes of roasted romanesco with lemon puree, almond, spring cabbage and hazelnut pesto; scallops with smoked cauliflower puree, dehydrated squid ink and almonds; 24-hour slow cooked pork belly with charred hispi cabbage, jus and garlic chilli crumb; and grills including a tomahawk steak served with grilled cherry tomato, portobello and watercress.

Don’t forget to save room for dessert – think brownie sundaes topped with chantilly cream, candied cherries and vanilla ice cream; and baked forest berry cheesecake with raspberry leather, blueberry caviar, honey mascarpone and honeycomb. Yum.

For those looking to party, you can look forward to DJ nights every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, from 8pm until midnight. As well as a secret Courtyard Garden home to a great alfresco space, perfect for those warmer nights.

The Long Bar is now open, with walk-ins and booking both available daily.
