This week, skincare guru Caroline Hirons unveiled her brand-new podcast, “Glad We Had This Chat,” an unfiltered peek (Caroline’s signature style- which is why we love her!) behind the scenes of the beauty world. The first episode has just dropped, featuring none other than the style icon, Sarah Jessica Parker who dives deep into everything from skincare must-haves to her favourite beauty products.

In the full episode, you’ll get the inside scoop on SJP’s post-theatre routine, parenting teenagers, and her earliest beauty memories. It’s a must-listen for all beauty enthusiasts out there. Here are the main highlights….

On her makeup:

“I did my own stage makeup for the recent show, but I’m not good at it like other people. I struggle with doing a base, but what I do is put some pumps of the RoC Hydrate + Plump Daily Moisturiser into my base to take the coverage down a bit. I like seeing skin. I want skin to have reflection points.”

On her most used products:

Lipgloss. Always. And a smokey eye, are the two most important things for me. I don’t typically wear mascara or base.”

On her daily routine:

RoC Hydrate + Plump Daily Moisturiser is a skincare must have for me, it is fantastic. We use it for touch-ups after lunch on movies and TV because it helps to just clean up and has a decent amount of shine that allows the skin to have some reflection points.”

On ageing:

“There is nothing you can do about ageing, and I’m not going to waste my time worrying about it.”

On fragrance:

“It’s so personal [If someone asks] I always share what I’m wearing. It’s hard to find things that feel individual or special. I mostly wear men’s fragrances.”

On skincare:

“The one piece of skincare advice I give my kids is ‘wear sunscreen!’”

Her surprising £1 beauty hero:

After taking off her lashes and using a balm to remove her eye makeup, SJP says, “I would just get, honestly from Boots they have a £1.99, or a quid 99 you’d say, wipes that have no fragrance and I would wipe it all because I was afraid I would clog the sink with the amount of oil I was wiping off and then I would wash my face proper with anything.” We looked these wipes up and they come in at right on a pound – here’s the link.

On inspiration:

Growing up I worshipped the teal blue eye liner that Princess Diana would do.

On parenting:

“When it comes to makeup, I would say [my kids] they are interested appropriately so. They love to do a flick eye, and they do it so well which I think comes from all the videos these days and the opportunity to sit and study and learn, which has been useful for me. A lot of it is experimental and wrong, and they know that I’m not going to tell them. I have to let them figure out who they are and what feels good and looks good. My main thing is wanting them to feel as close to who they think they are or want to be seen as when they walk out the door. My job, and I think this is one of the hardest parts of being a disciplined parent, is to not impose yourself on those creative experiments. I want to be a voice of counsel.”
