Everything We Know About Peter Dinklage & Anne Hathaway’s Film, She Came To Me
If there are two people you probably didn’t expect to star alongside one another in a rom-com, it’s Anne Hathaway and Peter Dinklage. But that’s what is in store for us this September as the two actors come together for She Came To Me, a new romantic comedy from Rebecca Miller (Maggie’s Plan).
Game of Thrones star Dinklage plays a brilliant composer, Steven Lauddem, who is suffering from a period of creative block and sets out to find inspiration encouraged by his wife (Hathaway). Unfortunately, this leads him to fall for another woman, Katrina, played by Marisa Tomei. Here’s why you should watch…
What Is She Came To Me About?
Dinklage is branching out since GOT ended with films like Cyrano and American Dreamer. She Came To Me sees him throw himself into the tropes of the rom-com genre: his character Steven seems to pretty much have it all, and yet is still unsatisfied with life.
Living in an expensive apartment with a glamorous wife, his biggest problem is that he’s in the middle of composing for a major comeback opera but can’t find quite how to complete it. His wife Patricia, a therapist, tries to help him out and eventually encourages him to get out into the world and find the creative juices he needs to strike opera gold. He ends up sailing on a tugboat from New York, and it’s here that he meets Marisa Tomei’s character Katrina.
She Came To Me follows Steven as he juggles his relationship and feelings for Patricia with the inspiration that comes with Katrina. Though she’s been previously arrested for stalking men, and Steven is unsure about their affair, he decides to compose a piece inspired by her admissions of stalking and is critically acclaimed for it. Patricia also has difficulties to deal with, including patients that admit to imagining her nude.
Who else stars?
Though we don’t see it in the trailer, the film will also explore their teenage son (Evan Ellison)’s relationship with younger girl Tereza (Harlow Jane), to the disapproval of her parents (Joanna Kulig and Brian d’Arcy).
Is there a release date?
She Came To Me premiered earlier this year at the Berlin International Film Festival, and will be released in cinemas on 29th September 2023, which should be enough to tide Hathaway fans over before her mysterious new film Mother Mary.
