Slow Horses Is Here With Another Chaotic Season
Slow Horses, one of the best shows currently on TV, has returned for its fifth series. We are once again in the company of Jackson Lamb (Gary Oldman), River Cartwright (Jack Lowden) and the rest of the Slough House department of MI5 and after the runaway success of the last series, expectations are high and there’s new threats to face for our misfit heroes- here’s everything you need to know about next season of Slow Horses:
What is Slow Horses Series 5 about?
As ever with the show, series 5 is based on the books of Mick Herron, specifically London Rules, the fifth novel of the Slough House series. Jackson Lamb returns, dishevelled as ever, alongside young agent River. The plot synopsis for this series, however, points to an increased focus on Roddy Ho (Christopher Cheung), a tech nerd and former hacktivist. This time around, he’s got a “glamorous new girlfriend”, which attracts the attention and suspicion of everyone else at Slough House at this sudden development. As Roddy comes to the forefront of events, Lamb and the rest wonder if everything is as it seems.
Making things more interesting is a series of sudden, bizarre events that occur across London, throwing the team into action once again as they investigate. The plot synopsis doesn’t give much away, but the trailer shows that Slough House is placed “on lockdown” and that an attack in London has killed eleven people. Roddy defends himself from accusations that he’s been compromised, but Diana (Kristin Scott Thomas) is certain he has “something to do with it.” The Slough House team soon find that there’s a plot of “sinister forces trying to take down the country”, and that everyone is at risk. The clock is ticking, and the stakes couldn’t be higher, but the group shows no signs of stopping the bickering.
What else do we know, and is there a release date?
As with all previous instalments, series 5 will consist of 6 episodes. Also in the cast are returning faces like Sophie Okonedo (Death on the Nile), Johnathan Pryce (The Crown), Hugo Weaving (Love Me), Sasha Reeves (Shetland) and James Callis (Bridget Jones). Joining the cast is newcomer Nick Mohammed (Ted Lasso). The first two episodes were released on 26th September, with one episode released every week, and the show has also been renewed beyond that for a sixth and seventh series.
