New Romantic Drama Happy Hours Is A Dawson’s Creek Reunion

Remember Dawson’s Creek? The late 90s/early 2000s teen drama series was emblematic of the era and became a beloved TV staple. Its biggest star, Katie Holmes, is now writing and directing a new, unrelated trilogy that will also star her Dawson’s Creek co-star Joshua Jackson in something of a Dawson’s reunion. Happy Hours is the name of the project, and is currently in production – here’s all we know so far:
What is Happy Hours about?
The first film in this planned new trilogy, Happy Hours, is currently in production, with cameras reportedly starting to roll back in July. Holmes, who played Joey in Dawson’s Creek, will have a starring role alongside her directorial duties, while Jackson, who played Pacey, will be opposite in their first onscreen reunion since the show. As the two did on Dawson’s, they’ll play a couple who are navigating the usual obstacles of life, including careers and families.
The character-driven drama will follow the couple, who were originally young lovers and then reconnected as adults, exploring themes of hope, loss, and joy. Holmes herself said of the film that “working with Josh after so many years is a testament to friendship. Happy Hours is a love story that includes so many people I adore. We can’t wait for everyone to see what we make.” The most intriguing element of the whole project is that this film will be the first of a wider trilogy, presumably meaning a long and winding arc for the characters.

What else do we know, and who else stars?
There’s much we still don’t know about Happy Hours itself or the planned trilogy, including what the names of Holmes and Jackson’s characters even are- but luckily, we shouldn’t have much longer to wait. What we do know, however, is an inkling of the rest of the cast, which is currently set to include Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds), Constance Wu (The Friend), Joe Tippet (Mare of Easttown), Nathan Darrow (House of Cards), and John McGinty (Wonderstruck). There are no official images or trailer yet, but we’ll update and keep you in the loop when any new info arises.
