While we’d all love a dedicated dining room to host bountiful dinner parties late into the night, the reality for most is quite different. Especially if you’re living in London and most likely in a flat, most of us have a small dining space to play with. Small and fabulous, however, needn’t be mutually exclusive. So, whether you have a modest table for two in the kitchen or your living room doubles up as the dining area, too, scroll to recreate some of our favourite looks from Instagram.

From lazy weekend breakfasts to working from home days, and cosy midweek meals, Vanessa’s fabulous ’70s-esque chrome table takes centre stage in the kitchen.

If calm, serene spaces are more your thing, you’ll love this pared-back look from Castlery. Banquette seating is a great way to play with small spaces, and this one also doubles up as ample storage space inside. Keep things warm with natural woods and candle wall sconces, and play with plenty of texture to ensure it feels homely.

There’s something so charming about the mix of this small dining space. We’ve got rustic wooden seating with a clean, modernist table, whimsical raffia with chintzy lighting, and a fun checkerboard rug. Shouldn’t work, but totally does, and it will definitely add more life to your midweek meals.

Make the most of every square foot of the house with a well-curated dining space. Whether this is your dedicated eating spot or you’re lucky enough to have a little extra seating by a window, we love the playful mix of lemony colour, print, and beautiful marble.

Finally, we love this look if your dining table lives in the living room. The use of a curved sofa and kidney bean-shaped table makes things feel soft, relaxed and a little less formal. An oversized paper lampshade is our favourite way to add some glowy drama to a space on a very small budget.
