Christmas has begun in full force on the streets of London, and one failsafe way to feel the festive cheer is to head to one of the capital’s dedicated Christmas stores for a yuletide overload. There are plenty already open in London – they usually open as early as July so we’re actually taking it slow this year.

Whether you’re keen to get your Christmas shopping done early, want to pick up the annual new bauble to add to your tree or simply want to feel that warm, festive vibe, here are the best Christmas shops in London, from foodie heaven Fortnum’s to Selfridges’ biggest ever festive shop space.

Selfridges

If you want to feel like you’re in a proper Christmas movie, head through those famous wooden revolving doors to Selfridge’s, where festive joy doesn’t come much more in the face than this.

Their famous Christmas shop is now 20% bigger than last year with over 1,200 baubles to purchase, half of which are exclusive to Selfridges.

As part of Selfridge’s Project Earth initiative, which aims to increase produce from certified sustainable sources by 2025, the Christmas shop is said to be the largest sustainable edit of festive stuff on the high street with over 50% off it being sustainably sourced.

There will be personalised pressies to snap up, including gifting sacks, stockings and crackers  – all of which are 100% fully recyclable with zero single-use plastic packaging.

Liberty London

The famous white and black-fronted department store is perhaps the most magical place to shop Christmas decorations in the capital – in fact, we make a pilgrimage there every year to buy a newbie for the tree.

This year will not disappoint as their Christmas shop, that’s full to bursting with unique decorations, covers a whole host of themes. There are charming little tree decorations that capture different hobbies, from baking to makeup – the perfect gifts for loved ones you can’t be with – to their famous London-inspired pieces featuring London buses and Union Jacks.

If your Christmas style errs more on the side of ‘more is more,’ check out this year’s A Cabinet of Curious collection; a colourful feast for the eyes featuring tree decorations of various animals, from the lions to the beautifully painted birds.
