Netflix’s biggest action thriller series is back: the third season of The Night Agent is dropping today, with Gabriel Basso returning as Peter Sutherland. This time around, Peter’s got an even harder, more personal mission that could stretch him to his physical and moral limits. In hot pursuit of someone with sensitive government intelligence, he’ll soon uncover a shadowy conspiracy that could change everything. Here’s everything you need to know:

What is The Night Agent Season 3 about?

In Season 2’s thrilling storyline from last year, Night Agent Peter Sutherland was trying to stop a devastating chemical attack in New York. At the end of that season, Peter and his love interest Rose share an emotional goodbye as they part ways, and Peter feels suspicious of the newly elected US president Hagan and his apparently sinister motives. So where do we go from there? Netflix has so far kept the intricate plot details of Season 3 under wraps to not give too much away, but has given us some insight into what’s in store.

Three serious-looking people in formal clothing stand outdoors near a private jet, the scene echoing the tension of The Night Agent. One man stands in front with two others behind him, whilst the plane's engine looms in the background.

Peter’s latest mission, according to the streamer’s synopsis on Tudum, sees him pursuing a young agent in the US Treasury who has suddenly fled to Istanbul whilst in possession of sensitive government intelligence, and has killed their own boss. It continues with “what begins as a high-stakes manhunt quickly spirals into something far more dangerous as Peter uncovers a dark money network, evades paid assassins, and crosses paths with a relentless journalist whose pursuit of the truth puts them both squarely in the crosshairs”. Netflix also indicates that the show will be globetrotting from Istanbul to Mexico to the Dominican Republic. Meanwhile, our trusty Night Agent continues to be wary of a conspiracy that’s forming at the White House, and it’s clear there’s a lot on his plate.

Who else stars?

Also returning to The Night Agent is Fola Evans-Akingbola, who plays agent Chelsea Arrington, who’s now working to protect the First Family at the White House, Amanda Warren as Catherine Weaver, Peter’s handler, and Louis Herthum, who plays Peter’s arch nemesis, the broker Jacob Monroe, who helped install the new president. The third season drops on Netflix today [19th February].
