Looking for something new for the Netflix watchlist? There are some seriously exciting new releases in the next few months, from the sci-fi mystery film They Cloned Tyrone to love triangle romcom A Tourist’s Guide To Love. One we’re eagerly excited about is The Perfect Find, a romantic comedy about the world of secret romances and work rivalries, based on the 2016 novel by Tia Williams. Set to star Gabrielle Union, Gina Torres and Keith Powers, it’s set to drop on 23rd June.

Here’s everything we know about The Perfect Find 

Union (Strange World, Sleepless) stars as Jenna Jones, a forty-something whose world turns upside down seemingly out of nowhere: she loses her high-profile job in the fashion industry and her long-term relationship in quick succession. To add to that, she’s kicked out by her mother and ends up having to move to Brooklyn to find a new life. She finds new work as a fashion editor at a magazine that she soon finds is run by her rival and frenemy Darcy (Suits’ Torres). The two soon begin to butt heads as she begrudgingly settles into her role, and things get even more tense when Jenna meets and falls for Darcy’s son Eric (Powers), who also works for the company.

Having already lost a previous job and relationship, there’s a lot for Jenna to risk, but thrillingly, an enticing secret romance draws her in. If Darcy finds out, it could be all over. She starts a delicate balance act- but how long can she keep it going for before her career is ruined for good? Williams’ original novel about second chances and feeling like a fish out of water is being adapted by Numa Perrier, who directed the critically acclaimed Jezebel released back in 2019.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, the director said she was drawn to the novel after experiencing similar troubles to the ones Jenna faces at the start. The Perfect Find also stars La La Anthony (who appeared in Netflix’s You People earlier this year), Aisha Hinds (Godzilla King of the Monsters), Janet Hubert (The Fresh Prince of Bel Air) and rapper Remy Ma, with Perrier also appearing in a role. The film arrives on 23rd June, and keep an eye out for the official trailer that should be right around the corner.
