Your Christmas table needn’t subscribe to the usual gold, red and green colour scheme. Instead, go for something softer that will work year-round so you can really invest in some key pieces to bring out time and time again. We love the way interiors brand Blithfield have curated this table with pretty pastels, inky blue chairs and a check tablecloth. The crackers and Christmas red candles bring a nod to the festivities.

Instagrammer Rosanna Falconer is no stranger to the tablescape, curating them for fashion brands but also the numerous dinner parties she hosts. Each one is a little different, and for Christmas, we love her pretty pastel colour palette. She does work to a few rules of thumb however: a pretty and rustic tumbling of flowers and foliage down the middle of the table, peppered with sweet tea-lights and longer stemmed candles to add a bit of drama. We also love her plump ribbon place settings which tie the whole look together and can be recreated super cheap by buying a roll of velvet ribbon from your local haberdashery.
For something more modern, influencer Liv Purvis brings a mid-century vibe to her understated table. Using a mix of mismatching crockery, just a few statement candles and a pretty tablecloth, she brings a homespun vibe to a special dinner.

Creative director and event designer Fiona Leahy has been curating table tops for some of the chicest events for over 15 years – her clients includes the likes of Smythson, Dior, Estée Lauder and Swarovksi. Take notes from her festive designs and centre the table with plenty of scented, rustic eucalyptus, pretty glass baubles as table settings, plump velvet bows for added charm and long-stemmed dramatic candles.
If Fiona’s tablescapes bring some fairytale magic to the big day, author and Instagram star Katherine Ormerod offers a more realistic look to the table. She uses mis-matching plates, a couple of well placed blooms and clashing candles for a look that feels cool and understated.
