How To Nail The One-Colour Tablescape This Summer
It’s no secret we’re a sucker for a good tablescape here at The Handbook – we’d go as far to say we put as much effort into the decor as the food – and this summer we are leaning into all things colour, with the one-shade tablescape. From leafy greens to powder pink, sunshine yellow to cool Azure blues, here’s how to make a serious impact at your next dinner party with far less effort than you might expect.
Blue Tablescapes
Queen of the tablescape, Alice Naylor-Leyland, consistently wows us with her stunning dinnerware collections. This summer, Alice takes inspiration from the iconic blue roofs of Santorini (the shoot itself was shot at Grace Hotel Auberge) with her blue, white and raffia line. Start with her geometric ikat tablecloth in pretty pastel blue and layer up with raffia placemats, glass candleholders and sea blue napkins. Finish off with some tall dinner candles or sweet little lamps that can be charged up and wire-free for a clean, perfectly positioned tabletop that looks picked straight from the pages of Pinterest.

Yellow Tablescapes
From zesty lemon to luxurious buttermilk, yellow is everywhere in the worlds of fashion and interiors right now. Adding it to your tabletop will inject some sunny holiday vibes into your home or garden even if the weather isn’t playing ball. Start with some classic seersucker stripes with a statement tablecloth or retro-inspired seat cushions and layer up with joyful lemon-inspired pieces, from Rose & Grey’s Amalfi-inspired lemon plates to Colombia Collective’s charming lemon napkin rings and Rose & Grey’s brilliant Sicilian lemon tree jug – now in the sale and a steal at just £36.

Green Tablescapes
If your interior taste is slightly more subtle, deep leafy greens are a great shade to work your tablescape around. Taking style notes from one of our favourite interior brands, Maison Margeaux – whose luxury dinnerware you can either buy or rent for a special occasion – we’re adding a mix of green pieces, from scalloped edge linens to sweet mini glass vases to pop monstera leaves or wispy ferns into. Raffia placemats and bamboo-trimmed cutlery will add to the rustic, natural feel.

Pink Tablescapes
Finally, whilst a full pink tablescape might not be for everyone, there is no denying it makes a punchy statement. Rosana Falconer’s beautiful Indian-inspired tablecloth will set the tone and her designs really are a labour of love. First of all, she hand paints the designs before they are traced, cut into teak wood and block printed by artisans in Jaipur. Pick out the cerise pink tones with pieces in similar hues and keep the feel fun, from Mrs Alice’s velvet bow place settings to Lepelclub’s pale pink coupes embellished with pearls, Royal Design’s cute bubble plate to the cult classic fish gluggle jug.
