Alison Brie And Dave Franco Star In Unnerving Relationship Horror Together

What would you do if you and your partner suddenly found yourselves inseparable – literally? That’s the premise followed in the new horror-thriller film Together, with real-life couple Dave Franco and Alison Brie playing two people who are suddenly afflicted with a strange force that keeps sticking their bodies together, no matter how hard they try to stop it. The film hits cinemas this week and has had glowing critical reviews. Here’s all you need to know.
What is Together about?
Millie (Brie) and Tim (Franco) have been together for a few years when we first meet them at the start of the film. Unlike the actors who play them, they’re not married yet, and neither is sure they ever will be: they’re still attracted to each other and have a spark, but it feels like they’re drifting in different directions. Millie is driven, following a steady career path and is the reason they’re moving out and into the countryside for a new job. Tim, meanwhile, is an aspiring musician who hasn’t found success, with Millie increasingly finding his lack of direction tiring. The move offers a new opportunity to reset things, and as they settle in, they decide to take a walk in their new surroundings- unaware of what they’ll find out there.

After they get stranded mid-walk, Tim takes a quick drink from a pool of water out of desperation, and suddenly something changes. The couple start finding that their body parts keep fusing together, and while they’re able to get free, it keeps happening to them. They undergo personality changes, and it appears that both need to be together all the time. Expect some stomach-turning body horror as Tim and Millie try to work out how to get things back to normal. But is it all just an allegory for being too clingy in a relationship? Or is there something even weirder and deeper going on?
What else do we know, and is there a release date?
Together, which is distributed by Neon (who also worked with films like Anora and Parasite), has received plenty of positive praise from critics for its premise, creepy horror scenes and acting from Franco and Brie. It also stars Damon Herriman (Once Upon A Time In Hollywood) and Mia Morrissey (Home and Away), and is set to release in UK cinemas tomorrow [15th August].
