Riley Keough, star of the hit miniseries Daisy Jones and the Six, and Lily Gladstone, who scored an Oscar nomination at this year’s ceremony for Killers of the Flower Moon are teaming up for a new true crime drama from Hulu that’ll release later this year. Based on true events, the miniseries surrounds the investigation of the shocking and tragic murder of Reena Virk, with Keough playing an author writing about the case, whilst Gladstone plays a police officer in the local force. The series is set come to Disney Plus in the UK – here’s what to know:

What is Under the Bridge about?

Under the Bridge takes its premise and inspiration from a book written by author Rebecca Godfrey, which followed the events of the murder as Godfrey’s investigations, bringing new details and theories to light. A fictionalised version of Godrey (Keough) is our lead character in the series, as she seeks answers about the circumstances of the death of Reena Virk, a teenager who was found dead in Canada under a bridge in 1997, causing outcry and an intense media frenzy. Reena, just 14, is out with friends when she is attacked by a group of six teenagers and later found drowned. The upsetting incident and the turmoil that followed form the crux of our series, with Godfrey teaming with Cam (Gladstone), a police officer who also happens to be the only woman of colour on the force.

So far, only a short teaser trailer has been released for the series with a particular focus on Gladstone’s officer as she tries to make a breakthrough in the missing person case, piecing together evidence and questioning suspects. Meanwhile, there are also glimpses of Keough as Rebecca, questioning Cam for her upcoming book. “There’s danger everywhere, but danger had never looked quite like this” narrates Rebecca at the start of the trailer, as shots of the suspects appear onscreen. The miniseries takes place across eight episodes, and will also star Izzy G (AJ and the Queen), Michael Buie (Bombshell), Archie Panjabi (The Good Wife), Jayvon Walton (The Umbrella Academy), and Anoop Desai (What We Do In The Shadows).

Is there a release date?

Currently, Under the Bridge does not have a confirmed UK release date, but it is set to arrive on Disney Plus after its debut in the US on 17th April. You can watch the first teaser trailer below.
