All We Know About Yellowjackets Season 3

It’s been two years since the last season, but Yellowjackets is making its comeback in February with season 3, continuing the show’s thrilling and often twisting story.
The time-hopping series will see the return of stars Christina Ricci, Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress and co. as the Yellowjackets, a group of survivors of a plane crash continue to grapple with their lives decades later. The next season is set to debut on Valentine’s Day on Paramount Plus- here’s all you need to know.
What do we know about Yellowjackets season 3?
If you’re unfamiliar with Yellowjackets’ overall premise or need a refresher, it follows a group of survivors, part of a soccer team, who manage to evade death when their plane catastrophically crashes. With two timelines: both with flashbacks of the survivors as teens immediately following the incident in the 90s, and the scenes that are set in the present day, with the survivors in adult age and having long ago been rescued.
When we last left off, with season 2’s finale, things ended on a decidedly dramatic note (spoilers ahead) as Natalie (played by Juliette Lewis) is killed by a deadly injection wielded by Misty (Christina Ricci). The injection was intended for Lisa (Nicola Maines), with Natalie jumping in front of it to protect her, and Misty ironically believing Lisa was about to kill Natalie herself with a shotgun, and so attempted to save her.

We also recently learnt that Natalie was the original Antler Queen, the show’s mysterious supernatural figure that oversees cannibalistic rituals. So, season 3’s present-day sequences will see the adult versions of the survivors attempt to deal with the fallout of Natalie’s dramatic death, with Misty coming to terms that she killed her best friend. More revelations will be uncovered following the destruction of their cabin by their assistant coach, Ben, as they battle to survive the cold.
While the teens continue their long road to rescue, the action in the present day will focus on the adults trying to reckon with who they really are underneath. Another plot thread from season 2’s finale that will be explored is Lottie once again being committed to a mental institution due to her schizophrenia and seeing disturbing visions. We’ll also see more of the relationship between Taissa (Tawny Cypress) and Van (Lauren Ambrose).
Who’s in the cast for season 3?
Most of the main aforementioned cast will be returning, with Sophie Thatcher, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Samantha Hanratty, Courtney Eaton and Liv Hewson as the teen Yellowjackets.
Other stars, such as Ella Purnell, who had a breakout year in 2024 with Fallout and Sweetpea, look from the trailer to be back too, as well as Elijah Wood. Perhaps most intriguingly are two new additions to the cast, with both Oscar winner Hillary Swank and actor-comedian Joel McHale playing unknown roles. Yellowjackets Season 3 starts on 14th February on Paramount Plus.
