If you love over the top decorations, venture over to 34 Mayfair this December and fall in love with their annual twinkling bauble takeover. And when we say takeover, we mean total takeover. Every ounce of the popular Mayfair restaurant is set to be adorned with thousands of baubles, approximately 14,000 in fact.
The installation has been designed by Jane Wadham, with every inch of the walls and ceiling embellished. This year, the restaurant has partnered with Nyetimber so expect to enjoy this display while merrily drinking a glass of bubbly.
On the food front, the a la carte menu sees some delicious additions, including the White Truffle and Fontina Pizza, and Peking Duck with pancakes, spring onion, cucumber and hoisin sauce. Yum.

At long last, a Christmas miracle has arrived, swooping in to save 2020’s big day from being far from exciting.
The festively famous pop-up bar phenomenon, Miracle, is arriving in London for the third time, at Henrietta Hotel, meaning us Londoners too can enjoy the overtly festive and kitsch atmosphere. This year, however, because the festive season has been disrupted by lockdown and the pandemic, they’ve launched The Extended Christmas Story by Miracle, meaning you can get your festive thrills right through until 20th January.
The Christmas pop-up will be bringing its famous cocktails, including the Bad Santa and SanTaRex. Plus a few new creations, including the Fruitcake Flip, made up of brandy, Jamaican Overproof rum, amaretto, fruitcake, cherry bitters and whole egg, and the Jolly Koala, made with gin, vermouth and pine-cardamon-sage cordial. The Ivy Chelsea Garden isn’t one to do things by halves, especially when the festive season is involved. This Christmas the restaurant exteriors have been transformed into a winter wonderland, inspired by Santa’s Workshop. From festive coloured baubles to Santa’s iconic red santa sack, it’s the perfect spot to take the kids to really soak up the Christmas spirit. Imagine you’re anywhere but London when you step inside this alpine-themed ski lodge at The Montague on the Gardens. This festive space has been transformed with fake snow, skis, piste maps, reindeer and strings of fairy lights and lanterns.

Bring in the festive season with a little help from Coq d’Argent and their winter pop-up, Lodge d’Argent. Created in partnership with Hennessy, you can book in for your own private chalet. Cosy up and settle in for a night of fine cocktails and alpine inspired sharing dishes, including a Whole Baked Mont d’Or Cheese and croutons, Beillevaire selection of Alpine cheese and chutney, and a Classic Tartiflette with salad.

There are certain things that help make Christmas in London extra Christmassy, and one has to be the arrival of Claridge’s famous Christmas tree. Each year, the five-star institution enlists a top fashion designer to create a masterpiece, and this year the tree has been designed leading florist Kally Ellis. Pergola Paddington has undergone a festive makeover. Named Miracle on Kingdom Street, the rooftop bar hopes to provide a seasonal escape, home to a winter wonderland forest and alpine winter hall. Every corner has been transformed, with cosy chalets and igloos scattered around the venue. On the food and drink front you can expect raclette and boozy cheese fondue (um, yes please!) and mulled wine a’plenty.

An alpine lodge has made its way to Soho’s 100 Wardour Street this Christmas, bringing with it a cosy spot to cuddle up in. In partnership with Taittinger, there’s a cocktail menu that’s been given a festive touch, from the ‘On the Slopes’, made up of homemade mulled wine reduction, cacao infused Olmeca Tequila and Taittinger Brut, to the ‘When in Verbier’, a mix of house blended spiced rum, banana liqueur, maple syrup, Taittinger Brut and homemade marzipan foam. Yum.

Another restaurant that’s been given the festive seal of approval is J Sheekey, the best seafood and fish restaurant in Covent Garden. Inspired by a traditional Victorian Christmas, the installation feels as though you’re stepping into a scene from Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. Walk down the cobbles streets and you’ll find the restaurant decorated with delightful lights, snowflakes and pine garlands, plus a Victorian lamp post lighting up the street outside. It’s truly a beautiful scene.
